Description

Organization Overview: The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Summer Teen Program Manager, the Program Maintenance Specialists will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

Schedule: 20 hours per week (seasonal)

Hourly Rate: $18.00/hr

Qualifications

Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties:

  • Cleaning and maintaining program common areas such as lobbies, corridors, and break rooms.
  • Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and polishing floors.
  • Emptying trash bins and replacing garbage bags.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting restroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
  • Wiping down and disinfecting high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and handrails.
  • Cleaning windows and glass surfaces.
  • Operating and maintaining cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and carpet cleaners.
  • Reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assisting with setting up and organizing conference rooms for meetings or events.
  • Monitoring and restocking cleaning and janitorial supplies.
  • Adhering to safety guidelines and procedures while using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Occasionally assisting with other tasks as needed, such as moving furniture or helping with office reorganization.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or HSE is preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods
  • Ability to lift and move over 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of different cleaning products and tools
  • Time-management and multitasking abilities
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Organization skills
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to work at least one weekend day on a rotating schedule.
