Job summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. in Kentucky seeks a PLC Technician to install, program, maintain, and troubleshoot PLCs and automated systems in a manufacturing setting, ensuring optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime. You will support production operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires hands-on installation and upgrades, reading manuals, and applying safety practices. Experience with ladder logic, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic systems, and Rockwell Automation

Qualifications

• Vocational or Technical degree required.
• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting and programming PLCs (Ladder Logic).
• Ability to read and understand repairs manuals and drawings.
• Demonstrated knowledge relating to PLC installation, troubleshooting, and programming including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic devices.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots PLCs, VFDs and related devices.
• Writes basic PLC programs (Ladder Logic) and analyzes existing ladder logic, recommends solutions, and initiates modifications as needed.
• Responsible for hands-on solutions including installations and upgrades.
• Completes preventative maintenance as required.
• Utilizes knowledge of 4-20mA circuits and 3-phase power up to 480V.
• Identifies problematic areas and informs supervisor of solutions.
• Performs repairs in a cost-effective, safe, and environmentally friendly manner to maximize equipment availability.
• Applies proper safety practices and follows procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

The Program Logic Control (PLC) Technician is responsible for installing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated systems within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimizes downtime, and supports continuous improvement initiatives across production operations

• Troubleshoots Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and related devices



• Writes basic PLC programs (Ladder Logic) and understands and analyzes existing PLC ladder logic, recommends solutions, and initiates modifications as needed


• Responsible for hands on solutions including installations and upgrades


• Completes preventative maintenance as required


• Utilizes knowledge and experience in variable voltage circuits, 4-20mA circuits and 3 phase power up to 480v to perform assigned tasks

• Applies proper safety practices and follow procedures while performing maintenance tasks

Minimum Qualifications

• Vocational or Technical degree
