Job summary

Denver Public Schools seeks a frontline program staff member to supervise students in Extended Learning and Discovery Link settings. You will implement daily activities, ensure safety, and maintain orderly spaces while following district policies and licensing requirements.

The role emphasizes fostering positive relationships with families and staff, supporting structured schedules, and stepping in at program sites as needed to ensure a high-quality learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have at least three months (455 hours) of experience with school-age children.
  • Live and work with a permanent Colorado address.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to ELCS/Discovery Link, district, and Colorado DHS policies for supervision, safety, and staff conduct.
  • Maintain staff-to-child ratios as required by licensing.
  • Supervise students and provide active supervision for safety.
  • Implement daily schedules, curriculum, and engaging activities including movement-based programming.
  • Maintain appropriate student behavior per the district Behavior Matrix.
  • Complete accident reporting and required recordkeeping with supervisor support.
  • Prepare and restore program spaces, review daily schedules and staffing assignments.
  • Build positive relationships with families and staff; cover additional sites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do
  • Adhere to all Extended Learning and Community Schools (ELCS)/Discovery Link, the District, and Colorado Department of Human Services policies, procedures, and regulations related to student supervision, tracking, safety, and staff conduct
  • Follow Discovery Link staff conduct guidelines, staffing philosophy, and all licensing requirements, including maintaining required staff to child ratios at all times
  • Supervise students independently and provide active supervision to ensure student safety
  • Implement daily program schedules, curriculum, and engaging activities, including recreational and movement based programming
  • Maintain appropriate student behavior standards consistent with the district Behavior Matrix
  • Understand and follow accident reporting, incident documentation, and other required recordkeeping procedures, with supervisor support as needed
  • Prepare, maintain, and restore program spaces before and after use, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and completion of housekeeping duties; review daily schedules, staffing assignments, and supervision expectations
  • Foster positive relationships with families, school personnel, and Discovery Link staff; provide accurate program information, substitute at program sites as requested
  • Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need
  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have at least three (3) months (455 hours) of full-time or equivalent part-time satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
Required
  • Must currently hold certification in or be able to become trained in First Aid, CPR, Medication Administration and Universal Precautions Certified.
