Job summary

Borealis Philanthropy seeks a Program Officer for the Disability Inclusion Fund to lead the fund within the Movement Building Initiatives. The role oversees grantmaking design, donor relations, and staff coordination across the United States to advance disability inclusion and justice in philanthropy.

The position emphasizes collaboration with funders, activists, and grantees, plus building capacity through technical assistance and peer-learning activities.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in nonprofit sector or philanthropy.
  • Experience with Disability Inclusion and Justice, intersectional organizing, equity and advocacy.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the Disability Inclusion Fund grantmaking program, including RFP design and rounds.
  • Review proposals, conduct site visits, and prepare summaries for donor decisions.
  • Develop and deliver organizational and leadership development components of grantmaking.
  • Communicate with the advocacy community and serve as a principal contact with grantees.
  • Ensure grantee documentation complies with legal requirements.
  • Lead and oversee grantee technical assistance, capacity-building, and peer-learning activities.
  • Plan and execute donor meetings, draft agendas, and report back to funders.
  • Manage donor relations and identify additional funding opportunities.
  • Oversee work of the DIF Program Associate and provide regular feedback.
  • Represent Borealis in grantmaking networks and disseminate the fund’s philosophy.
