Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking energetic staff to welcome guests, support campers, and lead outdoor education and recreation activities at our facilities. You will supervise participants, ensure safety, and collaborate with maintenance and other teams to keep programs engaging and safe.

Responsibilities include planning programs, teaching activities such as archery and climbing, and adapting to varying schedules while maintaining high service standards for all guests and participants.

Responsibilities

• Reports facility needs and coordinates with maintenance or staff, and ensures amenities are replenished.
• Performs other duties as assigned; flexible hours may be required.

Job description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Welcomes guests and co-workers and provides excellent customer service by responding to questions and concerns.
2. Presents to the guests in clean, designated uniform with impeccable hygiene.
3. Acknowledges guests needs and provides effective and efficient solutions.
4. Provides security for the YMCA, ensuring the safety of guests, and co-workers while at the Camp Cullen. To include, but not limited to:
5. Responding to situations with the possibility of removing members or non-members who act inappropriately, threaten or present a danger to others.
6. Responding to all incidents within the Y and completing Incident Reports.
7. Follows all YMCA policies and safety procedures and instructions.
8. Understands all emergency procedures, acts responsibly during emergency situations, and completes appropriate incident reports.
9. Reports any facility needs; calls maintenance or logs work orders in facility dude, ensures that the cleaning crew is notified to vacated rooms or specific issues requiring their attention and ensures amenities are replenished.
10. Plan and teach Outdoor Education and Recreation Programming.
11. Lead activities including (but not limited to) archery, zipline, riflery, climbing towers, team building, etc.
12. Apply good teaching and leadership skills to provide quality instructions.
13. Carry, transport, and use necessary equipment during activities.
14. Take responsibility for program areas of camp or assigned activity, includes developing rules and procedures, ensuring adequate program supplies and maintaining or improving equipment and/or facilities.
15. Ensure the safety and supervision of guests, students, and participants.
16. Ensure facilities are clean and presentable at all times.
17. Performs other duties as assigned; requiring the same effort, skills and responsibility when program requirements are changed and modified.

Due to the nature of our business having busy and quit periods of operation, at times some flexibility on hours may be required.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

• Continually required to walk and stand on uneven terrain, both downhill and uphill.
