Program Facilitator (Casual Role)

JOIN THE TEAM!

Program Facilitators help bring the mission of Beverly’s PGH to life by leading joyful community experiences through our Three B’s: Birthdays, Babies, and Basics. This role involves facilitating group birthday celebrations, supporting community baby showers, Basic Boutique events, and other family-centered programming throughout the Pittsburgh region.

Program Facilitators work alongside Beverly’s PGH staff and volunteers to create welcoming, respectful, and celebratory environments for children and families.

Compensation

Facilitators are compensated on a per-event basis. Events are assigned based on facilitator availability and Beverly’s PGH program needs.

  • Birthday Parties: $50 per event (approximately 2 hours)
  • Community Baby Showers and Basics Events: $75 per event (approximately 3 hours)

This structure provides flexibility while ensuring Beverly’s PGH programming is supported across the region.

Our community programming varies depending on the type of event. Birthday parties are typically held on weekday evenings throughout the Pittsburgh region. Availability should generally fall between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Occasional daytime parties may occur in the late morning. Community baby showers take place on weekdays, typically 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Basics programming may occur during the day (10-2) or evening (2-6).

Candidates select events based on their availability. Facilitators must commit to at least 4 events per month, averaging about 1 event per week.

Facilitators travel directly to event locations. If a candidate lives close to Beverly’s PGH headquarters, they may have the opportunity to ride in Beverly’s PGH vehicles when appropriate.

Essential Duties
  • Facilitate group birthday celebrations at shelters, group homes, residential treatment facilities, and community partner sites
  • Support additional Beverly’s PGH programming including community baby showers, Basics programming, and other family-centered events
  • Lead games, activities, and celebrations while creating a joyful and inclusive environment for children and families
  • Interact with children, parents, agency staff, and volunteers in a respectful and supportive manner
  • Represent the Beverly’s PGH brand in a positive, genuine, and meaningful way at all times
  • Adapt quickly during events and problem‑solve in real time when situations change
  • Attend a monthly virtual meeting to review party themes, activities, and programming updates
Required Qualifications
  • Passion for working with families and commitment to Beverly’s PGH mission
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with families from diverse backgrounds and life circumstances with sensitivity, respect, and care, while maintaining a supportive and non‑judgmental approach
  • High energy and enthusiasm
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to think on your feet
  • Experience leading activities or programming with children or youth
  • Ability to take ownership of programming and lead activities independently
  • Thrives in fast‑paced environments
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain or provide required clearances:
    • Pennsylvania State Police Clearance
    • FBI Fingerprint Clearance
    • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A college degree is not required for this role. Candidates with experience working with children, youth programs, family services, education, recreation, or community‑based programming are strongly encouraged to apply. Relevant hands‑on experience facilitating activities and engaging with children and families is most important. This role is ideal for individuals who are comfortable leading group activities, bringing energy to a room, and creating positive, engaging experiences for children and families.

Event Locations

Events take place throughout the Pittsburgh region at community partner sites, including shelters, group homes, residential treatment facilities, and community spaces.
