Job summary

A children's literacy nonprofit in Reno, Nevada is seeking a Program Facilitator to assist with book distribution and outreach programs. Position Summary

The Program Facilitator assists with all aspects of preparing books for distribution, book cleanings, and off-site programming.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate book cleaning events
  • Facilitate and lead off-site programs, including Breakfast/Snack Time with Books and Readers in Training
  • Interact with volunteers
  • Assist with community outreach by operating our information tables at special events
  • Assist with book inventory and cycle counts
  • Assist with the incoming and outgoing processing of books
  • Assist with communication with School Liaisons
  • Box, sort, and count books for distribution
  • Complete monthly book deliveries to schools
  • Speak in front of groups of people
  • Other duties may be assigned to the Director of Northern Nevada's discretion related to the fundamental aspects of the Program Facilitator or related
Education and/or Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma required
  • Experience working with children and families preferred
General Requirements
  • Familiarity with children's literature a plus
  • Effective in providing instruction to large groups of people
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Canva
  • Must possess proficient ability to communicate in English in oral and written formats
  • Use of a reliable personal vehicle, valid auto insurance, and a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to drive the Company Vehicle (van, truck).
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends on occasion
  • Ability to Comply with the Company Drug and Alcohol Policy as a requirement of a position that could adversely affect the safety of others.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid Nevada State Drivers' License, proof of current automobile insurance, and automobile registration

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The employee is required to lift up to 35 pounds. The vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to drive a vehicle.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to excessive heat, wet, and/or humid outside conditions. Due to working in office, warehouse, and/or school settings, the noise level is moderate to high at times.
