Job summary

Talen Energy seeks a Program Engineer to support the implementation and continuous improvement of In-Service Inspection (ISI) programs at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. The role provides technical leadership, interfaces with NDE vendors and station personnel, and supports regulatory compliance to ensure safe, reliable plant operation.

You will develop and maintain program documents, evaluate inspection results, and participate in industry activities while contributing to outage planning

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required.
• Two years of related engineering experience minimum.
• Five years of engineering experience at a commercial nuclear facility preferred.
• Experience with ASME Section XI programs or inspection activities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain program requirements, scope, testing, monitoring, and compliance activities.
• Develop and maintain program documents, technical basis evaluations, and engineering standards.
• Evaluate inspection results, operating experience, and regulatory requirements to determine actions.
• Perform engineering evaluations and provide technical recommendations for plant operation and program implementation.
• Track program performance, identify adverse trends and develop corrective actions.
• Support ASME Section XI inspections and related activities.
• Interface with station personnel, NDE vendors, and engineering organizations to support program objectives.
• Participate in industry organizations and Owners Groups as required.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and status updates for management and stakeholders.

Job description

The Program Engineer supports the implementation and continuous improvement of In-Service Inspection (ISI) programs at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. The ISI Department is responsible for ASME Section XI inspection programs, pressure boundary integrity, regulatory compliance, and inspection program oversight. This position provides technical leadership for assigned programs and works closely with station personnel, contractors, industry organizations, and regulatory stakeholders to maintain program effectiveness and support safe, reliable plant operation.

Engineering Program Responsibilities

• Maintain assigned program requirements, including scope, testing, monitoring, and compliance activities.
• Develop and maintain program documents, technical basis evaluations, and engineering standards.
• Evaluate inspection results, operating experience, and regulatory requirements to determine program impacts and required actions.
• Perform engineering evaluations and provide technical recommendations supporting plant operation and program implementation.
• Track program performance, identify adverse trends, and develop corrective actions as needed.
• Support ASME Section XI inspections and associated program activities.
• Interface with station personnel, Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) vendors, and engineering organizations to support program objectives.
• Participate in industry organizations, Owners Groups, EPRI initiatives, and code committees as required.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and status updates for station management and other stakeholders.
• Support the Corrective Action Program and company safety standards

Station Support Responsibilities

• Ability to obtain and maintain Unescorted Plant Access.
• Support refueling outage planning, execution, troubleshooting, and field activities associated with assigned programs.
• Support emergent plant issues within assigned areas of responsibility.
• Support periodic maintenance activities, equipment reliability initiatives, and condition monitoring efforts.
• Maintain Emergency Response Organization (ERO) qualifications and participate in emergency preparedness training, drills, and response activities.

• Knowledge of ASME, EPRI, INPO, NRC, and Owners Group guidance.
• Knowledge of Buried Pipe & Tank, Piping Corrosion Program & Cathodic Protection.
