Job summary

The Program Engineer at Armtec Defense Technologies is a key member of the Engineering group, focusing on existing products, processes, and new development activities. In this role, they are assigned to a program area and work with program teams, Operations, and Quality leadership to meet objectives and drive technical activity.

This position requires strong engineering leadership, proficiency in lean manufacturing and statistical methods, and close collaboration with productions and customers

Qualifications

• Minimum 4-year degree in engineering or science discipline.
• 5 years of engineering experience in a production environment.
• 5 years of experience performing development of new products, preferably in the defense industry.
• In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing, flow control, and statistical process control.
• Knowledge of product development processes including DFM/ DFA and six-sigma.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with statistical tools.
• Experience with product testing and DOE; strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be dependable, responsible, and detail oriented with initiative.

Responsibilities

• Maintain strong relationships with production supervisors, quality teams, and production employees.
• Regularly communicate technical activity status to program teams, leadership, and engineering peers.
• Report on project status, challenges, and progress to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Drive engineering rigor and best practices in product and system development.
• Research emerging technologies and integrate modern engineering solutions.
• Provide technical guidance, review designs, and oversee prototyping activities.
• Interface with customers on technical issues to meet requirements.
• Track workloads, allocate resources, and manage budgets for cost efficiency.
• Ensure staff have equipment and safety protocols; enforce defined processes.
• Monitor KPIs and drive improvements in productivity and quality.
• Implement lean workflows and tools to enhance efficiency.
• Conduct performance reviews and develop individual development plans.
• Provide input for drawings, tolerances, and material selections.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and ensure regulatory compliance.
