Job summary

CAMBA in Brooklyn, NY seeks a Program Director to lead Transitional Housing and related services. You will supervise staff, ensure contract compliance, and coordinate with funders while delivering high‑quality client support.

The role requires a Master’s in Social Work or related field with licensure (LCSW/LMHC) and at least two years managing housing programs; bilingual Spanish is a plus. Full‑time, 35 hours weekly, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or related field, with a current LCSW or LMHC license, and at least two (2) years of experience overseeing supportive housing programs.
  • Experience in a mid-sized organization (250+ employees) is preferred.
  • Knowledge about working with chronically homeless individuals and those living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and confidentiality.
  • Understand contract requirements and communicate them to staff.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and CAMBA policies and privacy regulations.
  • Provide guidance to Executive Vice President on policies and program operations.
  • Supervise day-to-day activities of direct reporting staff and set performance targets.
  • Prepare contract reports and ensure timely submission to funders.

We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 72,000individuals and families each year at our 100locations, including 10,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families live in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

Transitional housing programs include Short Term Housing Program: This program provides thirty-five units of congregate and transitional housing to PLWHA who are homeless or at serious risk of homelessness. There are seven units of housing at the program’s 7-room congregate facility located at 27 Winthrop Street and 31 community apartments.

Emergency Transitional Congregate Housing Program: This program provides nineteen units of emergency transitional housing to clients coming from the HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) Emergency Placement Unit. Clients reside in our 24-hour congregate residence located at 23 and 25 Winthrop Street. HASA is the sole referral source for this housing. Everyone has their own lockable room but shares common space such as the bathrooms, living room and kitchen. All the programs provide case management and support services with a focus on the areas of psychiatric treatment and medication compliance, access to benefits, money management, substance use management, housing crisis management, etc

What does the Program Director do
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.
  • Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
  • Understand all aspects of contract requirements and communicate this understanding to staff.
  • Comply withallFederal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacypoliciesintended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.
  • Make recommendations to the Executive Vice President regarding organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Confer with the Executive Vice President on programmatic and operational matters.
  • Confer with the appropriate Executive VicePresident and/or other CAMBA management/Executive Staff as needed regarding programmatic and personnel issues.
  • Clearly communicate both CAMBA’s and funders’ policies, requirements, guidelines, and program performance targets to staff.
  • Train staff in program responsibilities, processes, and procedures, and ensure that all staff meets contract requirements in their daily work.
  • Collaboratewith staff to set realistic weekly and monthly performance targets in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Coordinate and supervise all day-to-day activities of direct reporting staff.
  • Conduct periodic internal file review and implement Quality Assurance measures as needed to ensure quality service delivery to clients.
  • Prepare contract reports and statistical information for both CAMBA management and funder use.
  • Complete program forms and reports for the agency’s finance, payroll and human resources departments as required.
  • Collaboratewith staff on programmatic improvements.
  • Organize onsite and offsite training opportunities for professional development of staff.
  • Attend and represent the organization at staff, funder, and external agency meetings as required.
  • Review and sign time sheets.
  • Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting staff.
  • Ensure that all direct and subordinate staffcomplywith CAMBA’s and funderpoliciesand rules.
  • Ensure that any disciplinary action taken, regarding staff,followsCAMBA’s disciplinary policy and procedure.
  • Ensure that all goals, targets, and performance outcomes are met on a monthly/annual basis.
  • Develop and implement Quality Assurance measures to ensure quality service delivery to clients.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all staff weekly/monthly/quarterly/semester/annual reports.
  • Review and submitmonthly and/or annual reports to funders.
  • Analyze program and demographic data to make programmatic improvements.
  • Communicate with peers on issues related to client progress and best program practices.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings.
  • While not on call, will be expected to be reachable afterhours andonweekends to assist and consult on client emergencies when needed.
  • Immediately report to the appropriate SeniorProgram Director/VicePresident any: monitoring visits or funders’ events; significant events; any incident that might subject CAMBA to liability.
  • In consultation with CAMBA’s Human Resources Department and the Executive Vice President makefiring recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education, Licenses, and/or Certifications Required
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or a related field, with a current LCSW or LMHC license, and at least two (2) years of experience overseeing supportive housing programs.
Minimum Experiences and Skills Required
  • Relevant experienceas described above, preferably in a mid-sized (250+ employees) organization.
  • Knowledge about, understanding of, and ability to work closely withpersonswho are chronically homeless, and/or living withHIV/AIDS and related issues.
  • Familiaritywith prevention services.
  • Excellentwritten & verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suiteproducts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingualin Spanish preferred.

Compensation: -$100,000 annually

When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate.This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
