Job description

The Program Director is responsible for developing, implementing, continuously improving, and promoting the RN-BSN program. This role supports the Assistant Vice President of Health Professions in supervising and evaluating faculty, initiating and coordinating course offerings and instructor assignments, and assisting with the planning and delivery of adjunct faculty orientation. The Director ensures that all program components comply with applicable accreditation standards and federal and state regulations. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Health Professions and includes teaching responsibilities as assigned, based on instructional needs, which may extend to branch campuses and off‑site locations.

In addition, the Director serves as a supervisor, leader, mentor, and role model for both students and program personnel. The position is accountable for the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the RN‑BSN curriculum, while fostering a collegial, respectful, and high‑performing work environment that supports employee engagement and student success.

Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s core values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members.

Responsibilities
  • Educational responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching, curriculum development, and evaluation. Plan, prepare, and teach course content and curriculum, utilizing effective methodologies of instruction and assessment tools for the enhancement of learning. Utilize technology in teaching, communicating with students, and in the delivery of instruction.
  • Teach not more than nine (9) credit hours as needed each semester. Keep records of students’ attendance and grades in all assigned classes. Grade books should be kept for at least 3 years. Attend commencement exercises, convocations, faculty meetings, and College functions.
  • Regularly examine the content of assigned courses and recommend changes to the LSSC supervisor if needed. Any additions, revisions, or supplemental materials incorporated into the course must be compliant with ADA accessibility standards and institutional accessibility requirements.
  • Administrative responsibilities include fiscal planning, continuous review and analysis, planning and development, and the RN‑BSN Program’s overall effectiveness. Assists the AVP in the preparation of the budget for the RN‑BSN program. Orders and maintains necessary instructional equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in enrollment management activities and share professional expertise with colleagues and students beyond the classroom. Supports student activities, including course and career guidance, with a focus on fostering a love of learning.
  • Participate in the College’s Institutional Effectiveness Plan primarily by identifying student learning outcomes, assessing the extent to which these outcomes are attained, and using the results to improve student learning.
  • Maintain expertise in the field of study and teaching pedagogy. Maintains active participation in professional organizations as appropriate.
  • Resolve discipline problems within the sphere of responsibility.
  • Establish course syllabus with competencies tied to a matrix for assessment, and curriculum and content area standards.
  • Maintain continuity of communication with students, community, faculty, staff, and supervisors through timely replies to meetings, phone calls, mail, and email requests.
  • Community engagement: developing community and industry partnerships.
  • Serves on Departmental, Division, and College Committees as requested or required.
  • Assists in recruiting, interviewing, and recommending the employment of RN‑BSN personnel. Ensures that all RN‑BSN training complies with the relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Recruit and participate with the advisory committee for the ASN/RN‑BSN Programs.
  • Perform additional faculty job requirements as required by specialized and accredited programs (ACEN).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Exceptional people skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide variety of educational and professional backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated quantitative, organizational, and technical skills adequate to help design, monitor, and interpret assessment results.
  • Familiarity with student learning outcomes assessment and how this process relates to program and institution accreditation.
  • Ability to maintain good working relations with all College personnel, members of the local community, and representatives of state and federal agencies.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative decision-making environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of RN curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Advanced computer and technology skills for daily work and online teaching.

Qualifications
  • Required:
    1. Master of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
    2. Active, unencumbered Compact RN License
    3. Three (3) years of asynchronous, higher education teaching experience
  • Preferred:
    1. Doctorate degree (DNP/PhD) from an accredited institution
    2. Five years of full-time hybrid or asynchronous higher education teaching experience
