Position Overview
Hamline Midway Elders (HME) is seeking a dedicated and organized Program Director to help
lead our community-focused nonprofit serving older adults. This part-time position (20–30
hours/week) plays a key role in ensuring the success of our programs, financial management,
events, grant writing, reporting, fundraising and community relationships.
Core Responsibilities
A. Program Leadership & Development
• Serve as the primary steward of HME’s mission and vision
• Collaborate with staff and board on strategic planning and program development
• Maintain strong communication and coordination with staff to address program needs
• Oversee office operations, including program files, supplies, and equipment (with tech
support as needed)
• Maintain appropriate organizational insurance coverage and renewals
• Cultivate relationships with other Living at Home (LAH) programs
Board Relations
•Attend and participate in board meetings
• Pull together “board packet” for monthly meetings and distribute to staff and board
members
• Maintain consistent communication with board members and committee chairs
• Provide program updates, challenges, and opportunities requiring board input
• Support and promote a collaborative staff–board dynamic
B. Financial Management
• Create and oversee the annual budget
• Oversee and manage program finances within the approved annual budget
• Work with the bookkeeper on bill payments, payroll, tax filings, and financial reports
• Identify funding opportunities; write and submit grant proposals and required reports
• Collaborate with the board treasurer and accountant to ensure financial accuracy and
transparency
• Support the development and submission of the annual IRS 990 and filings with the MN
Secretary of State
• Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar financial software required
• Research and find local business to sponsor monthly luncheons
C. Events & Community Engagement
• Assist other Directors with “Second Tuesday” luncheons
• Coordinate HME’s presence at local fairs and festivals
• Partner with co-directors and board to plan:
o Annual volunteer appreciation event
o Annual ice cream social
o Outreach events
o Health and wellness classes/events
Qualifications
• Hourly position: 20–30 hours per week, 15-20 onsite
• Tech-savvy and comfortable with remote and in-person work tools
• Proficient in QuickBooks or similar software
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience in fundraising, working with older adults, or nonprofit management preferred
