Job description

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES – To administer ICF/IRA/CRP programs

  • Collaborate identifying potential students, completing screening and placement of the students.
  • Serve as a liaison with families, providing support and assistance throughout the screening and placement process.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to all areas of the residential school; maintains and promotes the “one program” philosophy of school and residence.
  • Develop evidenced-based outcome measures to assess the efficacy of the program.
  • Interview and hire staff; conduct observations and evaluations within agency guidelines
  • Collaborate with the Principal and Clinical Coordinator on systems that crossover both the educational and the residential areas to ensure a continuum of services and treatment modalities.
  • Build relationships with the community to provide vocational, recreational, athletic, and community inclusion opportunities for the students.
  • Maintain the program within budgetary guidelines; participate in budget preparation and reviews of Reports of Operation.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive treatment plan is developed for each individual, that staff are properly trained in the implementation of the treatment plan, and that all requisite documentation and data are collected, analyzed, and formulated.
  • Collaborate with the Performance & Quality improvement/Staff Development Departments to ensure that the program operates within regulatory and agency standards.
  • Oversee all duties of administrative and clerical staff, including maintenance of complete and up-to-date confidential resident files, personnel files, and regulatory documentation.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the physical plant and grounds to ensure that the facility is maintained to optimal standards.
  • Oversee the fiscal operation of the program, including resident funds, within regulatory and agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensure provision of on-going staff development and training; encourage professional growth for all staff.
  • Develop long-range plans for residents, including future planning, transition planning, and move to permanent adult placements.

QUALIFICATIONS – Bachelor’s Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in related field; comprehensive knowledge of OPWDD regulations; strong management, organizational, and interpersonal skills; good oral and written communication skills; minimum of 5 years experience in programs serving individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities; computer literate.

RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS – Interact with city and state agencies and other providers in a variety of forums; maintain relationships with families and correspondents; provide supervision and mentoring to those supervised in a positive and supportive manner.

In addition, must possess the following characteristics:

  • Be a team player.
  • Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within the organization.
  • Possess a strong belief in people’s ability to grow and change; forge a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families.
  • Be able to set limits and maintain helping role of practitioner and to intervene appropriately.

WORKING CONDITIONS – flexible schedule; must be able to supervise all shifts.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY – Responsible for all aspects of the residential school, including the physical plant, student selection, staffing, fiscal and budgetary concerns, etc.
