Job Summary

The Assistant Program Director supports the daily management, programming, and operations of assigned community-based long-term support service programs. The role emphasizes effective service delivery, advocacy, and leadership aligned with Bay Cove’s mission.

This position is non-exempt.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Models professional and community behavior; supervises staff as assigned.

Essential Functions
  1. Adheres strictly to program models, including clinical, programmatic, and quality protocols; supports the Program Director when needed.
  2. Uses strong clinical judgment in observation, support, resource allocation, and communication.
  3. Models and teaches daily living activities, including medication management, hygiene, cleaning, and safety.
  4. Develops and implements program activities to promote skill development, utilizing teachable moments.
  5. Ensures safety procedures are followed, including crisis assessment and intervention.
  6. Manages and follows up on medical, dental, psychiatric appointments, and leisure activities for individuals.
  7. Maintains accurate program documentation.
  8. Performs household and property maintenance tasks.
  9. Provides specialized training to individuals and staff, such as in medication administration or safety roles.
  10. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience in a human services setting; GED or High School Diploma required.
  • Department of Public Health medication administration certification required; must obtain if not already certified within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, communication, and computer skills.
  • Physical ability to perform lifts and restraints.
  • Use of personal cell phone and/or vehicle.
  • Flexible and responsible work style adaptable to agency needs.
  • Respect for individual dignity and integrity in work.
  • Demonstrates mission alignment through knowledge, pride, and advocacy.
  • Supports diversity and inclusion.
  • Works collaboratively and compassionately with stakeholders.
