Job Description

The Director of the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program will serve as the leader and primary academic officer of the program, which is located at our Knoxville Campus. The Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and communications; program planning, development, and implementation; faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation; fiscal management; and program assessment and review. The Program Director will provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the OTD Program.

The OTD Program Director will hold a full-time administrative appointment with assigned teaching responsibilities and a faculty rank. The OTD Program Director will report directly to the Chief Academic Officer.

The hire date for this position will be Summer 2023.

Qualifications:
  1. Earned doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Senior-level academic experience consistent with program expectations.
  3. A minimum of 8 years of full-time documented experience in the field of Occupational Therapy including a minimum of three years of full-time experience as a core faculty member in an ACOTE accredited entry-level Occupational Therapy education program and administrative experience.
  4. Understanding of higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in Occupational Therapy education.
  5. Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of Occupational Therapy.
  6. Occupational therapist with an active, unrestricted license in Tennessee.
  7. Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.

Essential Functions
  1. Establish and maintain state, institutional, and programmatic (ACOTE) accreditation. Overall responsible for coordinating the Program’s compliance with all expected standards and rules.
  2. Develop and maintain a contemporary and evidence-based Doctor of Occupational Therapy curriculum that meets accreditation standards and achieves program goals and expected outcomes.
  3. Develop, maintain, and uphold regulations, policies, and procedures that meet accreditation standards and achieve program goals and expected outcomes.
  4. Provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the OTD Program.
  5. Serve as the OTD program’s liaison with Evidence in Motion (EIM), with whom the College is partnering in the delivery of the OTD program.
  6. Provide faculty and staff with mentorship and regular evaluations, to include an organized professional development plan in the areas of teaching, research, and service.
  7. Plan and administrate the OTD Program budget and financial resources to support the current and anticipated program needs, to include academic and clinical education, faculty, facilities, and equipment needs.
  8. Lead strategic planning activities for the OTD Program.
  9. Plan and conduct OTD Program faculty meetings.
  10. Recruit and retain faculty for the OTD Program.
  11. Provide recommendations on continued employment and promotion of faculty in accordance with South College policy.
  12. Serve on executive, planning, and standing committees as directed.
  13. Represent the OTD Program within the College, the community, and the profession of occupational therapy.
  14. Attend South College activities as designated.
  15. Other responsibilities as assigned.
