Program Director, Consumer Health Labcorp is seeking a Program Director, Consumer Health, to join our team in Burlington, NC or Durham, NC with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule!

Strategic Deal and Program Leadership

Lead end-to-end program management for priority Consumer Health opportunities, from active deal development through customer confirmation and onboarding. Translate commercial objectives into integrated workplans with clear milestones, deliverables, dependencies, decision points, and accountable owners. Establish governance, operating rhythms, and executive reporting appropriate to the size and complexity of each opportunity. Maintain momentum across concurrent workstreams and intervene early when execution challenges could affect timing or customer commitments. Provide program management guidance directly to VP-level and above on complex Consumer Health business issues. Work with significant autonomy under limited supervision. Lead Consumer Health corporate development and M&A project activity, including diligence support and post-close integration planning.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Serve as the primary internal program lead for assigned Consumer Health opportunities. Navigate the organization to engage the appropriate stakeholders and subject matter experts across Commercial, Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Information Technology, Marketing, Managed Care, Corporate Development, and other functions as needed. Clarify roles, responsibilities, handoffs, and decision rights across workstreams. Facilitate working sessions, document decisions, drive closure of unresolved issues, and elevate matters with clear options and implications. Lead engagements external to Labcorp with partners, health systems, and other large customers, including direct engagement with C-suite executives in customer offices.

Customer Confirmation and Onboarding

Partner with commercial leaders and customer-facing teams to convert customer commitments into coordinated implementation plans. Lead internal readiness activities required to confirm and onboarding new customers. Serve as the customer-facing Labcorp lead from close through onboarding and early-life support, owning issue resolution and escalation on the customer’s behalf. Coordinate alignment of business requirements, operational capabilities, contractual commitments, technology needs, financial considerations, and customer expectations before implementation. Coordinate handoffs from business development to implementation and ongoing account ownership, remaining the customer-facing owner until that transfer is complete, and resolve issues that could affect launch timing, service delivery, or the customer experience. Transfer ongoing account ownership to the Executive Director, Consumer Health Partnerships, at the completion of onboarding, and support that role on subsequent escalations affecting service delivery or the customer experience.

Risk, Issue, and Decision Management

Maintain visibility to program risks, issues, assumptions, decisions, and interdependencies. Assess potential impacts to customer commitments, financial outcomes, operations, compliance, resources, and timing. Develop practical mitigation plans with accountable functional leaders. Prepare concise executive updates highlighting progress, decisions required, tradeoffs, and areas needing leadership support.

Process Improvement, Data, and Technology

Identify recurring barriers and opportunities to improve Consumer Health deal execution and customer onboarding. Develop repeatable playbooks, templates, governance standards, and performance measures, while avoiding unnecessary administrative burden. Use data, automation, and AI-enabled tools appropriately to improve planning, reporting, risk identification, decision support, and stakeholder communication. Capture lessons learned and strengthen visibility into the portfolio of active deals and onboarding programs.

Market Intelligence and Competitive Insight

Conduct ongoing market scans and structured research on how the consumer health and direct-to-consumer diagnostics market is evolving, including partner, channel, and technology developments. Track competitor activity, new entrants, and emerging commercial models, and translate findings into implications for Consumer Health strategy and active opportunities. Deliver regular executive-level presentations on market trends, market evolution, and competitor activity to VP-level and above audiences.

Measures of Success

Priority opportunities have clear plans, accountable owners, and effective governance. Cross-functional decisions and dependencies are identified and resolved early. Leadership has timely visibility to progress, risks, tradeoffs, and required decisions. Customer commitments are translated into realistic and coordinated implementation plans. New customers move from confirmation to onboarding with fewer avoidable delays and handoff issues. Customer counterparts have a single accountable Labcorp contact from close through onboarding. Program insights are converted into repeatable improvements for future opportunities. Leadership receives a current, well-sourced view of market evolution and competitor activity on a regular cadence.

Leadership Capabilities

Creates clarity and momentum in complex, ambiguous environments.

Connects program activities to customer, commercial, and operational outcomes.

Influences stakeholders without relying solely on formal authority.

Communicates complex issues clearly and concisely to senior leaders.

Balances speed, customer expectations, operational feasibility, risk, and financial considerations.

Maintains an external market perspective and brings competitive insight into internal decisions.

Uses AI tools thoughtfully to improve efficiency and work quality, while validating outputs and protecting confidential information.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, project management, or operations.
  • 10 or more years of experience in program management, commercial operations, customer implementation or business development operations.
  • PMP certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 or more years of Smartsheet or comparable multi-project portfolio tooling experience.
Additional Job Standards

Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional programs in a matrixed organization. Experience developing integrated workplans, governance structures, risk assessments, executive updates, and decision materials. Demonstrated experience leading programs with direct exposure to VP-level and above stakeholders and to external customer executives. Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and executive communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, and program-management tools. Working knowledge of AI-enabled productivity tools and the ability to apply them appropriately to improve planning, analysis, reporting, and stakeholder communication. Understanding of business cases, financial models, contractual commitments, or operational readiness assessments. Healthcare, diagnostics, laboratory services, health system, or life sciences experience. Experience supporting complex commercial deals, strategic partnerships, customer implementations, or enterprise onboarding. Experience coordinating across commercial, operational, financial, legal, compliance, and technology functions. Experience with Salesforce or another customer relationship management platform.

Skills and Competencies
  • Stakeholder mapping across a matrixed organization and across customer organizations.
  • Multi-project roll-up reporting and scalable multi-project architecture.
  • Executive presentation and facilitation at VP-level and above.
  • Organizational discipline and attention to detail across concurrent programs.
  • Commercial judgment sufficient to represent Labcorp directly to customer counterparts.
  • Market scanning, competitive analysis, and synthesis of external information into executive-ready insight.
