Job summary

OpenAI Foundation is seeking a Program Director, AI for Alzheimer’s, to build a life sciences focus from the ground up. You will shape strategy, identify opportunities, and deploy resources to accelerate progress in Alzheimer’s research using AI, working closely with the Head of Life Sciences and Curing Diseases.

This is a founding role with substantial autonomy and external engagement. The role requires deep leadership, strong judgment, and an ability to translate mission into a focused grants

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of relevant experience preferred.
• San Francisco Bay Area strongly preferred.
• Experience in Alzheimer’s research, neuroscience, biotechnology, or related life sciences fields.

Responsibilities

• Develop clear theses for accelerating progress toward preventing and treating Alzheimer’s with AI funding.
• Shape strategy with the Head of Life Sciences and Curing Diseases.
• Source, evaluate, and recommend grants and opportunities; assess scientific value and potential impact.
• Engage with researchers, nonprofits, public health orgs, startups, and funders to build the program.
• Prepare internal briefs and memos to support decision-making.
