Job description

FLSA Status:Exempt

OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications for the position of Program Director for the launch of its online J.D. program, which is currently being developed. The online J.D. program will be fully online, and courses are likely to be both asynchronous and synchronous. All online J.D. program faculty and staff will fulfill their responsibilities in person at OCU Law.

The Program Director will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all academic and administrative aspects of the online J.D., ensuring compliance with ABA Standard 306 and related accreditation requirements. The Director is responsible for maintaining academic quality, curricular coherence, and measurable learning outcomes, thereby ensuring that the online J.D. maintains rigor and educational equivalence with the in-person J.D. program. Working collaboratively with faculty leadership, academic committees, instructional designers, and technology staff, the Director will promote innovation, evaluate program effectiveness, and advance strategic initiatives that support program growth, quality, and continuous improvement.

The Director will oversee student success initiatives by monitoring academic progress, retention, completion, and other key performance metrics and by implementing data-informed interventions to improve outcomes. In collaboration with Student Services and other law school departments, the Director will ensure that online J.D. students have meaningful access to advising, academic support, career services, and integration with the broader law school community. The Director will also develop and analyze program data to guide decision-making, oversee the online J.D. budget, and supervise program staff to support the effective delivery and long-term success of the program.

Candidates should have an excellent academic background and a commitment to effective online education, as well as to integrity and a welcoming environment. Candidates for a tenure or tenure-track position must have demonstrated potential as a scholar. Candidates must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school or a foreign law degree with a U.S. LL.M. or S.J.D. OCU Law anticipates hiring 2-3 faculty members and a Legal Research and Writing Professor during the 2026-2027 hiring season, with successful candidates beginning appointments in fall 2027.

Our beautiful, historic law building is in downtown Oklahoma City, the 21st-most-populous city in America, within walking distance of the federal and county courthouses. The Mayor of OKC, David Holt, is our OCU Law Dean. OCU Law is home to the Oklahoma Innocence Project, the Tribal Sovereignty Institute, and the USPTO's Regional Pro Bono Patent Program.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Oklahoma City University is an equal opportunity employer and affirms the values and goals of diversity. See OCU Nondiscrimination Statement.
