Job description

Who We Are

Jericho Project is a nationally acclaimed nonprofit ending homelessness at its roots by enabling homeless individuals and families to attain quality housing, employment, and mental and physical health services. The 42-year-old nonprofit serves over 2,500 individuals, including 700 veterans, annually. Jericho has been a key partner in New York City’s initiative to end veterans’ homelessness and is leading bold, innovative strategies to do the same for families and young adults.

Our programs focus on four cornerstones of a person’s life: housing, employment, wellness, and family stability. We foster a culture of “moving on” through housing and supportive services provided by expert program specialists and case managers.

We have over 600 units of supportive housing, including 8 residences in the Bronx and Harlem, as well as scatter-site apartments throughout NYC.

Who You Are

The Program Director will oversee the development and daily operations of the site. Responsibilities include supervising staff, ensuring ongoing client case management, and maintaining accurate charts and records. Candidates should have extensive experience serving individuals with mental illness and substance abuse histories; experience in supportive housing is preferred. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader who can inspire staff and tenants alike.

What You'll Do
  • Ensure the quality and provision of services to residents.
  • Provide leadership and strategic vision for the program.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate program activities.
  • Ensure services are accessible, inclusive, and aligned with the Housing First model, utilizing Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational and funding regulations and produce necessary reports.
  • Create systems for tracking program performance using data-driven approaches.
  • Oversee data collection, compliance, and monitoring for funding sources and internal metrics.
  • Perform data integrity checks and address deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with Building Operations to ensure communication and planning between Social Services and Property Management, assisting tenants with budgeting, money management, and lease compliance.
  • Develop or update site policies and procedures.
  • Conduct monthly quality assurance reviews of case files.
  • Provide weekly clinical supervision, including case conferences and Incident Reviews.
  • Motivate, train, and support staff through regular meetings.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and develop staff, including training on electronic case management systems.
  • Orient new staff to Jericho’s mission and protocols.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance.
  • Manage the site’s budget within contractual guidelines.
  • Facilitate community meetings and provide direct services to residents as needed, including carrying a small caseload when appropriate.
  • Participate in program director meetings to develop and evaluate services.
  • Identify community resources and develop linkages to meet residents’ needs.
  • Assess training needs for staff.
  • Be available on-call for emergencies.
  • Assist with Jericho events and network with social service organizations to enhance services.
What You Bring
  • A Master’s Degree in Human Services (MSW preferred) and at least four years of experience in human services within supportive housing.
  • Extensive experience working with individuals with substance abuse issues.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
