  • Track progress toward certifications, credentials, and milestones.

  • Report student outcomes to ensure grants compliance and program improvement.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise program staff, including adjunct instructors and support personnel.
  • Implement targeted instructional strategies for low literacy, numeracy, and digital skills.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide instructional coaching; trauma-informed, inclusive education.

Position Summary

The Program Director oversees the daily operations of a comprehensive vocational training and career services program, with a strong emphasis on workforce development, participant support, and collaborative partnerships. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of program delivery—including academic instruction, soft skill training, job placement, and wraparound services—with a focus on high-quality outcomes for individuals who typically have high barriers to employment.

Some of the duties include:
  • Manage daily operations of vocational training programs (e.g., culinary arts, janitorial, building maintenance), ensuring high-quality programming aligned with organizational goals
  • Oversee referral processes for the training programs, ensuring timely and appropriate placement
  • Lead the academic component of training, including curriculum delivery, classroom instruction coordination, and training schedules; deliver foundational instruction, as needed
  • Monitor student attendance, academic performance, and program completion rates, implementing intervention strategies for at-risk participants
  • Track participant progress and ensure timely completion of certifications, credentials, and career milestones
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date academic records in GradeLink or other databases
  • Track and report student outcomes, including certifications, employment placements, and program retention, to ensure compliance with grants and in support of quality improvement
  • Use data to inform decisions about instruction, staffing, interventions, and overall program performance
  • Administer Emergency Client Assistance Funds and maintain accurate records of fund usage
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise vocational program staff, including adjunct instructors, career success specialist/case manager, and support personnel
  • Implement targeted instructional strategies to support students with barriers such as low literacy, numeracy, and digital skills, enhancing their employability and long‑term success.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and provide instructional coaching to ensure high-quality, trauma‑informed, and inclusive education
Qualifications

Our Ideal candidate possesses a bachelor’s degree in social work, education, workforce development or related field; Mater’s preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing workforce development or vocational programs. A working knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of poverty and barriers faced by persons experiencing unemployed/underemployed; homelessness; current or previous involvement in the criminal justice system; and with mental health or addiction histories. Valid Ohio Driver’s License and proof of insurance required.
