Job summary

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certification required.

  • Experience in sales/marketing, membership retention, program leadership and staff supervision preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments; good organizational skills; basic PC and typing skills.
  • Criminal clearance with fingerprints and background check.
  • Health screening with Negative TB and Drug tests.
  • Complete all required online trainings.

  • Adhere to safety standards and protect assets; communicate with staff and supervisors.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings and YMCA functions.
  • Maintain open communication with staff, parents and supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

College Degree and/or equivalent experience
CPR, First Aid and AED certification
2 years experience in related field
Experience in program leadership and staff supervision
Experience in sales/marketing, membership retention, program leadership and staff supervision
Ability to handle multiple assignments, organizational skills, basic PC and typing skills
Criminal Clearance (Fingerprints and background clearance)
Health Screening with Negative TB Test and Negative Drug test screening
Complete online trainings as required

Job description

Pay: $23.00 - $26.22

Hours: M-F 6:30am - 3:30pm

Position Summary:

Responsible for supervising the activities of a program with the direct support of the Executive Director.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  1. Manage Branch programs, cash management and receipting procedures, enrollments and registrations, receivables and payments. Monitor program usage, check-in and service procedures, cancellations and changes. Ensure the accurate processing and management of program software systems including DAXKO and others.
  2. Track program usage, inquiries, tours, terminations, etc.; prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports and schedules; collect and distribute program evaluations; conduct quality checks and satisfaction surveys.
  3. Assist with member relations and involvement, member services inquiries, complaints and concerns. Responsible for new program sign-ups, and program needs. Process financial assistance requests.
  4. Assist with the hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of staff. Attend regular staff meetings and assist as needed. Ensure program requirements are enforced.
  5. Assist with promoting program awareness through publications, marketing materials and member promotion programs. Participate in community/facility events.
  6. Assist with fundraising and special event efforts; serve as a staff liaison for fundraising team. Provide staff leadership for branch special events.
  7. Follow and enforce safety standards, policies and procedures. Ensure proper care and use of assets.
  8. Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by supervisor.
  9. Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and supervisor.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Specific Duties:
  • Provide direct supervision and support to assigned YMCA TK/K Support Staff, including regular coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, scheduling, and accountability to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Conduct a minimum of two (2) classroom visits each workday to observe YMCA Support Staff performance, provide coaching, ensure compliance with YMCA and LBUSD expectations, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with school site administrators, classroom teachers, and district personnel by conducting regular check-ins to assess satisfaction with YMCA services, address concerns, and ensure open and effective communication.
  • Serve as the primary YMCA liaison for assigned school sites, responding promptly to questions, coordinating staffing needs, facilitating substitute coverage, and resolving operational issues in collaboration with school administration.
  • Ensure YMCA TK/K Support Staff comply with all YMCA policies, LBUSD procedures, Child Abuse Prevention Standards, and program expectations, including attendance, timekeeping, documentation, and required trainings.
  • Monitor program quality through regular site observations, documentation, and follow-up, ensuring consistent implementation of program standards while fostering positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and YMCA personnel.
  • Coordinate staff onboarding, orientation, and ongoing professional development, including facilitating trainings, documenting required certifications, and supporting employee growth and performance improvement plans.
  • Collect and communicate feedback from school principals, teachers, and district staff, utilizing surveys, site visits, and regular communication to evaluate program effectiveness, recognize staff successes, and implement continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate staffing, site visit, and performance documentation, including records of coaching conversations, classroom observations, corrective actions, and program communications.
  • Support the successful implementation and growth of the YMCA TK/K Support Program by promoting a culture of professionalism, collaboration, responsiveness, and exceptional customer service in partnership with the Long Beach Unified School District.
