About Shout Out UK (SOUK):
Shout Out UK (SOUK) is a UK-based award-winning political and media literacy organization with nearly a decade of experience in delivering impactful educational campaigns. Our mission is to defend and amplify democracy by equipping individuals with the critical thinking skills needed to navigate the complex information landscape and engage as informed, active citizens. We have a strong track record of working with educators and young people across various contexts, and we are the secretariat for the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group for Political and Media Literacy. SOUK has a history of successful partnerships with US organizations, including the U.S. State Department.
About the Project:
SOUK is embarking on a two-year initiative to boost political and media literacy. The first year focuses on empowering educators through a train-the-trainer program. This pilot will create a model for wider implementation across the US. Year two will see the launch of a national network connecting key stakeholders to tackle critical information integrity issues.
The Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Project Coordinator based in the USA to play a crucial role in the successful delivery of this exciting initiative. The Project Coordinator will work closely with the SOUK UK team to manage the day-to-day operations of the project in the US, ensuring smooth implementation and effective communication with stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Project Administration:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the project in the USA.
- Coordinate and schedule training sessions, meetings, and events in Wisconsin.
- Manage participant registration, communication, and follow-up.
- Maintain project documentation, including attendance records, feedback forms, and progress reports.
- Assist with budget tracking and expense reporting.
- Coordinating and organising your own travel across the state of Wisconsin. A valid driving licence and access to a reliable personal vehicle is preferred.
Facilitation:
- Assisting with the creation of materials for workshops and training.
- Facilitating workshops and training for educators in schools and colleges, including formal and non-formal education settings, including Choice and Charter schools.
- Using feedback mechanisms to continuously improve the training programme.
- Be willing and able to travel occasionally across Wisconsin state, with some overnight stays.
Bid Writing and Opportunity Development:
- Research and identify potential funding opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other relevant sources in the US that align with the organisation’s goals.
- Contribute to the development and writing of compelling grant proposals and funding applications.
- Maintain a strong understanding of funder priorities and requirements.
- Assist in the cultivation of relationships with potential funders.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with educators, universities, colleges, and other relevant stakeholders in Wisconsin.
- Support the outreach and recruitment of educators for the train-the-trainer program.
- Liaise with partner organizations and civil society members.
Logistics and Coordination:
- Coordinate logistical arrangements for in-person training sessions, including venue booking, materials preparation, and equipment.
- Support the delivery of online components of the project.
- Facilitate communication between the SOUK UK team and US-based participants and stakeholders.
Monitoring and Evaluation Support:
- Assist in the collection and collation of data for the project’s monitoring and evaluation activities, including pre- and post-session surveys.
- Contribute to the preparation of project reports.
General Support:
- Provide administrative support to the SOUK UK project team as needed.
- Represent SOUK professionally at meetings and events.
- Undertake other tasks as reasonably required to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in project coordination or administration, preferably in the education, non-profit, or related sector.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in event planning and logistics coordination.
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail) and other relevant software.
- A strong interest in political and media literacy, civic engagement, and addressing online harms.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, taking initiative to solve problems.
- Experience working in the US education system is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and virtual communication tools.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, social sciences, communications) is preferred.
- Must be eligible to work in the USA.
Personal Attributes:
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic about the project’s aims.
- Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality work.
- Adaptable and flexible in a dynamic work environment.
- Culturally sensitive and respectful of diverse perspectives.
- Work Abroad Scheme.
- Opportunity to be part of an impactful project addressing critical societal challenges.
- Collaborative and supportive working environment with an international team.
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Salary range of $40-55,000.
