Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Program Coordinator to administer Ohio's Electric Choice program and support CRES providers and mutual customers. You will help set service levels and manage program execution while ensuring compliance with PUCO orders and reporting requirements.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with Regulatory, Technical Support, Backoffice and Energy Services teams, plus coaching and mentoring junior staff to strengthen operations and stakeholder outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience; high school or vocational education minimum.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience supporting utility operations, customer billing, regulatory compliance, Electric Choice, supplier coordination, or related business processes.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, planning, and follow-through skills.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and ability to prepare clear documentation, reports, procedures, and status updates.

Title: Program Coordinator, Electric Choice
Responsibilities
  • Administer Ohio's Electric Choice program by providing exceptional support to Competitive Retail Electric Service (CRES) providers and mutual customers
  • Establish appropriate service levels and take responsibility for meeting or exceeding those expectations
  • Manage activities that affect the Company's support model for CRES providers, customer interactions, and program execution
Regulatory Compliance & External Coordination
  • Review and ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, tariffs, Ohio Administrative Code requirements, PUCO Orders, and related obligations
  • Represent AES Ohio in State of Ohio working groups that affect Electric Choice policy, operating standards, and market practices
  • Provide complete, accurate, and timely information in response to audit requests and reporting requirements, including PUCO, FERC, AES, and other applicable requests
Business Process, Digital Transformation & Systems Support
  • Manage projects related to regulatory compliance and digital transformation of business processes
  • Support and recommend improvements to AES Ohio's supplier website (CRES web portal) and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) activity
  • Develop and maintain procedures and controls related to Electric Choice and PJM market settlements
Stakeholder Collaboration & Team Guidance
  • Work closely with Regulatory, Technical Support, Backoffice, Customer Service representatives, and other business partners as needed to support Electric Choice operations
  • Develop benchmarking relationships with industry peers to identify leading practices and opportunities for improvement
  • Provide guidance to Energy Services Analysts through coaching, development, feedback, and day-to-day support
Education / Experience (Required)
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent relevant experience; high school or vocational education required at minimum
  • Three to five years of relevant experience supporting utility operations, customer billing, regulatory compliance, Electric Choice, supplier coordination, or related business processes
  • Strong leadership, organizational, planning, and follow-through skills
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and ability to prepare clear documentation, reports, procedures, and status updates
  • Familiarity with SQL or data-query concepts helpful for reporting, analysis, and process improvement activities
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Familiarity with AES Ohio's customer billing system (SAP), EDI guidelines, Ohio Administrative Code, PUCO Orders, and AES Ohio tariffs
  • Understanding of the Electric Choice program and deregulation in the State of Ohio
  • Exposure to PJM energy and capacity markets and the Company's responsibilities related to market settlements
  • Experience supporting supplier portals, CRES provider interactions, regulatory reporting, audit responses, or digital transformation initiatives
Success Metrics
  • Electric Choice activities are executed accurately, consistently, and in line with service-level expectations
  • CRES providers, mutual customers, and internal stakeholders receive timely, complete, and professional support
  • Accurate information and effective controls support regulatory, audit, and reporting requirements
  • Business processes, supplier website capabilities, EDI activity, and related procedures are continuously improved
  • Energy Services Analysts receive effective guidance, coaching, development, and feedback to support team performance and program outcomes
