Job summary

CARE of Southeastern Michigan is seeking a Program Coordinator – Children’s Education to deliver substance use trainings to local schools and community organizations in Roseville, MI. The role requires coordinating education programs, overseeing staff and summer camps, and ensuring compliance with funding sources.

You will present information on substance use issues, facilitate classes, and report outcomes while adapting hours to meet community needs, including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, or psychology.
  • Must hold CPC-R or CPS certification, or have a registered development plan and timely implementation.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator license.

Responsibilities

  • Market substance use presentations to schools, community and faith-based organizations.
  • Coordinate and/or assist with agency summer camp activities.
  • Coordinate staff schedules and provide support to CARE staff.
  • Maintain paperwork per funding source standards and CARE policies.
  • Contribute to data collection and reporting for outcomes and program measures.
  • Disseminate information at community events and health fairs.
  • Establish liaison relationships with agencies on prevention.
  • Attend required meetings and adapt hours to community needs.
  • Apply current substance use trends to service delivery.

Job Title : Program Coordinator – Children’s Education

Status : Full Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Salary : $21.00 per hour

CARE offers several prevention programs which provide information and strategies to help the community manage health and safety. We are looking for a passionate individual to deliver substance use trainings to local schools and community organizations.

Description of responsibilities:
  • Market substance use presentations to schools, community and faith-based organizations located in communities served by CARE of SEM.
  • Coordinate and/or assist with agency summer camp (s).
  • Coordinates and oversees paper people facilitation and coordinates casual staff schedules.
  • Provide support to CARE's Community Organizers, and other staff as needed.
  • Ensures assigned paperwork is completed and maintained in accordance with funding source standards and CARE of SEM policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrates full comprehension of management by objective (MBO) plan and meets quality programmatic standards.
  • Completes activities associated with assigned MBO hours in a timely fashion and complete total assigned MBO hours.
  • Provide presentations on general substance use issues and CARE of SEM’s services as needed.
  • Facilitate educational classes/groups related to programming as needed.
  • Reports data and outcomes as required.
  • Disseminate substance use information at health and public fairs, school open houses and other community events as requested.
  • Establish and maintain liaison relationships with appropriate agencies regarding substance use prevention.
  • Attends assigned meetings as required.
  • Ability to adjust hours of work based on the community needs, including some evening and weekends.
  • Knowledgeable of national and local substance use and prevention statistics and demonstrates the ability to apply current trends to service delivery.
Required skills / education:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, consumer/community services, family studies, family and/or child development, guidance/school counseling, counseling psychology, education, public health, human services, or criminal justice.
  • Must be certified as a Prevention Consultant or Prevention Specialist (CPC-R or CPS) or must have a registered development plan and be timely in its implementation.
  • Possess a valid motor vehicle operator license.
