Requirements

The Center for Student Engagement houses programs and supports organizations to foster student development, leadership and community building on campus. There are over 50 student organizations focused on international politics, heritage, development and culture. Duties

The Program Coordinator position in the Center for Student Engagement (CSE) will serve as the first point of contact for the office, greeting all walk-in traffic, managing financial and administrative processes, student organization advising, and providing customer service for a variety of functional areas. The purpose of this role is to support the Center’s mission of providing learning and development opportunities for undergraduate students through administrative assistance to the CSE team, campus departments and partners, and undergraduate students. The Center for Student Engagement is a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Student contact is extensive and substantive. Staff members work collaboratively within the office and with many other university-wide constituent groups. Staff members are expected to exercise a high degree of responsibility and independent judgment and occasionally work irregular or extended hours. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the frontline staff that manages a number of processes and procedures that require direct interaction with students, faculty, staff, and community members on a regular basis.
  • Advise students and student organizations in programming, organizational, and leadership development, designing programs to involve students in campus life and co-curricular learning experiences.
  • Manage the financial expenses of student organizations, supervising a team of student employees taking in and reviewing paperwork and maintaining reservation calendars for CSE spaces.
  • Train student leaders and manage the use and maintenance of student organization equipment, monitoring and ordering supplies, creating reports, and regularly working with students to assist with event and organizational support and supporting CSE staff in programming logistics.

Work Interactions

The Program Coordinator reports directly to and is supervised by the Associate Director of Student Engagement. The Program Coordinator supervises approximately 6-8 student staff members. Along with the Associate Director and other Program Coordinators, this team makes up the core of the advising structure for Georgetown’s over 200 student organizations. The Program Coordinator provides administrative support for the Director and Associate/Assistant Director of Student Engagement, the Director of Debate, the Director of Outdoor Education, and the Director of Orientation, Transition, and Family Engagement. This position requires a person with strong attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task, the ability to be flexible and proactive, and a genuine interest in working with students and colleagues across the university, while being responsive to working across differences. The position also calls for a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. The person must be a highly motivated, self-starter and an effective communicator within the Student Engagement team. This position occasionally work nights and weekends during heavy programming and training seasons and to cover weekly board meetings.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in student activities, student advising, student affairs, etc
  • Excellent organizational skills, combined with strong communication and writing skills
  • Ability to prioritize work with a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated flexibility in a dynamic work environment
  • Familiarity with the Google and Microsoft Office suites, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of professional and polished communication
  • Ability to perform light to moderate physical activity and to provide physical support on site to student programs on an occasional basis.

Preferred Requirements And Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or related field
  • Experience in a diverse, high intensity academic environment
  • Familiarity with GMS/Workday
  • Familiarity with CampusGroups or other student engagement platforms
  • Familiarity with financial and human resource management tools
  • Supervision experience
  • Demonstrated experience in logistical oversight or administrative support

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$39,930.00 - $59,694.78

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
