Program Coordinator, Biomedical Graduate Education - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Program Coordinator supports the academic, instructional, student life, admissions, and all administrative aspects of the MS in Biotechnology graduate program in. They support the Program Director and Associate Program Director, overseeing the coordination of approximately over 60 graduate students. The incumbent assists with recruitment and admissions, monitoring the academic progress of all graduate students in the program, along with merit-based aid, alumni, and career services outreach efforts. The Program Coordinator manages program administration, including faculty and program support, organizing special events for program purposes. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide advice/counsel to students on a range of student life cycle issues, including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic program policies, financial aid, housing, visa services, student life, student activities and/or programs and services, career plans, accessibility, community standards, etc., in order to assist them in making appropriate choices and decisions.
  • Plan and coordinate student events, and off-site activities and work with faculty, alumni, and administration to coordinate logistics when needed.
  • Provide student life advising and co-curricular services to student organizations and/or groups, and may be responsible for fiscal and operational management of resources.
  • Utilize confidential information and conduct confidential conversations to provide these services with sensitivity to student needs, concerns and university compliance regulations.
  • Support the college in areas of diversity, equity and inclusion, collaborating with staff and faculty from across the University to provide support and advising for complicated/sensitive situations involving students in distress or crisis, communicating with parents when necessary.
  • Meet one-on-one in office as well as in group settings with students to provide advice and counsel on curriculum-specific matters, major exploration issues, affiliation, College and University policy and procedure, and non-academic factors affecting academic performance.
  • Meet with students to discuss long-range academic plans and career goals, developing student programs/services for the college.


Work Interactions

The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Director Biotechnology Program. The Program Coordinator works closely with The Office of Biomedical Graduate Education (BGE) including admissions, student services, recruitment and career services, and communications, Office of the Registrar, and Office of Global Services.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5-7 years of academic administration experience, preferably in the biomedical sciences field
  • Demonstrated administrative and computer experience and competence
  • Experience in database management, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and proficiency with web-based meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Project management skills with the ability to perform multiple functions simultaneously
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of data and information
  • Must be available for occasional weekend work

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
