Job summary

Job description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the AmeriCorps Seniors national service programs sponsored by Catholic Charities West Michigan. Key responsibilities include volunteer recruitment, onboarding, orientation, placement, and ongoing support; facilitating volunteer in-service trainings; planning and executing recognition and special events; and maintaining organized, accurate documentation in compliance with federal, programmatic, and agency requirements. This position travels throughout Lake, Muskegon and Newaygo Counties.

Wage Range: $16.00/hour - $18.50/hour based on relevant experience

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities
  • Builds awareness of national service and AmeriCorps Seniors programs to recruit and retain qualified volunteers.
  • Recruits, screens, enrolls, orients, and places volunteers in appropriate service assignments in accordance with program requirements.
  • Monitors volunteer placements and provide ongoing support to volunteers and station staff to promote positive service experiences and program effectiveness.
  • Collects and maintains required volunteer, client, student, and station documentation in accordance with federal, programmatic, and agency requirements.
  • Maintains organized, accurate, and current volunteer and program records.
  • Coordinates and facilitates volunteer orientations, in-service trainings, meetings, and educational opportunities.
  • Assists volunteers with accessing resources and training opportunities that support effective service delivery.
  • Reviews and processes volunteer service documentation and other required program forms.
  • Assists with collecting program data, evaluations, and feedback from volunteers, clients, students, teachers, caregivers, and station staff.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements volunteer recognition activities, appreciation events, and special program events.
  • Maintains confidentiality and safeguards sensitive volunteer, client, student, and agency information.
  • Drives for Agency business.
  • Performs other special project assignments at supervisor’s request.

While performing the duties of this position, the staff member is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The staff member, on occasion, may be asked to move or lift items up to 40 pounds in weight.

Work Environment: This position is primarily office based, however, on occasion may require travel to other Agency offices as required by position responsibilities and/or agency management. This position will be routinely exposed to typical office noise levels and/or exposure to various weather conditions.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to streamline workflows using technology to accomplish goals efficiently and effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and improve technology skills including Chromebooks, VIS, BambooHR, and Zoom.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with older adults, community members, and professional partners
  • Strong communication skills in both one-on-one and public settings.
  • Ability to maintain organized, accurate, and complete documentation in alignment with all federal and program requirements.
  • Ability to travel throughout Lake, Muskegon and Newaygo Counties.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and related programs.
  • This position requires reliable transportation as drives for agency business.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record with zero work restrictions.
  • Must have personal auto insurance as required by law with minimum bodily injury coverage limits of $250,000 per person/$500,000 per incident or $500,000 combined.
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must submit to agency approved background checks.
Recommended Employment Qualifications

Education:

  • A high school diploma or general educational development (GED) is recommended.
  • A bachelor's degree in human services, education or a related field is highly preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of prior work experience working with older adults strongly is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of prior work experience working with technology and maintaining accurate documentation is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of prior work experience planning and executing events is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of prior work experience in customer service field is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
