Job summary

The Alaska Department of Health, Division of Behavioral Health, is seeking a policy-focused professional to coordinate statewide suicide prevention initiatives.

You will oversee grants, plan events, implement postvention protocols, provide crisis center support, and lead data reviews and statewide messaging campaigns.

Hybrid work from Anchorage or Juneau is available to align with the location of the most qualified candidate and facilitate collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Experience with information technology for accessing, collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and disseminating data.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Makes sound, well-informed decisions; commits to action even in uncertain situations.

Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

Are you someone who is passionate about policy development and the implementation of prevention initiatives to address suicide in Alaska?

If you said 'yes,' the Division of Behavioral Health would like to hear from you.

In this role, you will coordinate the Division's statewide suicide prevention initiatives, including:
  • Overseeing administration, budgeting, grant-writing, and reporting for state and federal grants.
  • Planning large-scale in-person and virtual events, such as summits, conferences, webinars, workshops, and trainings.
  • Implementing suicide postvention response protocols.
  • Providing crisis contact center technical assistance.
  • Conducting data reviews, analysis, and reporting.
  • Engaging in public outreach and education on suicide prevention resources.
  • Leading the development and dissemination of statewide messaging campaigns.
  • Participating in statewide mortality reviews with internal and external stakeholders.

Additionally, you will work closely with the Statewide Suicide Prevention Council Program Coordinator, the Statewide 988 Program Coordinator, the Youth Suicide Prevention Project Assistant, and the Comprehensive Behavioral Health Prevention and Early Intervention Program Managers to provide technical assistance to existing grantees and communities developing programs aimed at improving overall community health.

Anchorage Regional Office

: Conveniently located at 3601 C. St., Suite 878, Anchorage, AK 99503, Midtown Anchorage, and within walking distance of Cuddy Family Park, Loussac Library, and Natural Pantry.

Juneau Central Office

: Located at 350 Main St., Suite 214, Juneau, AK 99801, in vibrant downtown near the Alaska State Capitol Building, courthouse, governor's mansion, state and city museums, and within walking distance to various restaurants, coffee shops, and gift stores.
