Job summary

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity focused on ending poverty through humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and advocacy. We seek a Program Manager to oversee country programs across field offices, working with Country Directors to provide guidance for staff and operations and to strengthen program impact.

Role includes developing REACH capacity, contributing to global strategy, and providing grant management support with donor reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in social science/international development or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with NGOs.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide up-to-date overview of country programs across field offices and oversee all country programs.
  • Work closely with Country Directors to supervise field offices and guide staff and operations.
  • Develop the capacity of the REACH department and contribute to global, regional, and country strategy development.
  • Provide grant management support including proposal writing and donor reporting.
  • Serve as liaison between HQ and field offices/LPs for efficient project management.
  • Manage projects in allocated countries with field staff and partners to ensure delivery and resource use.
  • Ensure project delivery through monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge sharing with stakeholders.
  • Travel to field sites for scoping, evaluation, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement such as UN agencies and government officials.

About the Role
  • To ensure an up-to-date overview of operational matters across field offices and effectively manage all country programs in a highly organized and systematic manner
  • Work closely with Country Directors to provide management and oversight of the FO and to provide guidance and direction for staff and operations in order to develop FO and strengthen and maximize impact of programs.
  • To develop the capacity of the REACH department, contribute to strategy development at a global, regional and country level, and provide support in aligning and shaping organizational and strategic decisions and goals
  • Bring understanding and knowledge of current development trends, SDGs and learning from other programs in order to provide technical support in program development, and develop own expertise through continuous personal development
  • To provide grant management support to FOs/LPs including proposal writing and budget and narrative reporting for donor accountability
  • To be the liaison between the institutional funding and strategic partnerships unit at HQ and the FO’s/LPs for efficient project management
  • To take responsibility for project management in the allocated countries by working closely and supporting staff in the field/partner offices to ensure appropriate resource allocation (both financial and human) and successful delivery of all projects including large and/or complex ones
  • To ensure the successful delivery of projects through effective monitoring of projects, appropriate management of field staff, and clear evaluation to measure effectiveness of interventions for evidence-based learning and to design new projects
  • Maintain regular travel to the field to undertake scoping or evaluation missions, meet with team for capacity building, and network with stakeholders including UN agencies and government officials
  • To ensure cross-departmental working for information sharing and to increase organizational learning
  • To be available for HA’s response to humanitarian crises/natural disasters and provide the necessary support to HA departments and FOs/LPs
  • Availability to provide support to other Programs staff when required

NB: Employee duties are not limited only to the above-mentioned Accountabilities; he/she may perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in social science/international development or any related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with NGOs
  • MS Office Suite
  • Fluent written and spoken English is essential. Additional languages desirable
