ABOUT US

Career Technical Education Foundation is a Sonoma County nonprofit that connects schools, employers, postsecondary institutions, and community partners to strengthen the path from high school to career. Founded in 2012, CTE Foundation invests in career-connected learning, work-based learning, and career pathway programs across the county's high schools.

Path to Purpose, CTE Foundation's countywide internship program, places high school juniors and seniors in structured internships with local employers. The Program Coordinator supports this work from student outreach and advising through employer recruitment and internship placement, as well as supports other pathway programming through sector collaboratives and countywide initiatives.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Program Coordinator works directly with young adults to provide personalized career development guidance, socio-emotional support, and access to work-based learning and internship opportunities. The Program Coordinator partners closely with school site staff, employers, post-secondary partners, and community-based organizations to help students identify their interests, build career-readiness skills, and connect with the resources needed to pursue their goals. This role leads student workshops and orientations, conducts outreach and marketing to promote program participation, and represents CTE Foundation at school and community events. The Program Coordinator also supports employer engagement and internship placement, tracks and analyzes program data to inform continuous improvement, and provides specialized support to students participating in healthcare internships and training programs.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Advising & Supports
  • Work with students to identify individual needs and career interests, collaboratively set goals, address challenges and barriers, and provide socio-emotional support.
  • Provide career readiness support to students, including helping build effective resumes, explore diverse career opportunities, develop professional communication skills, and excel in interview preparation.
  • Collaborate strategically with community resources and organizations to build and maintain a network of contacts for referring students to additional supports and services as needed.
  • Help design and maintain a database to track student information, keep data accurate, current, and secure.
  • Design and facilitate student workshops and orientations that build career readiness skills and introduce participants and their parents/guardians to program services, expectations, and opportunities.
  • Coordinate a system to sustain relationships with program participants to support their transition to post-secondary or career.
  • Co-design programs and tools with school and employer partners so work-based learning can expand to more students across Sonoma County.
  • Build and share resources, such as handbooks, training guides, MOUs, and goal-tracking tools, so programs run consistently across schools.
  • Help build strategies and opportunities for students to engage in professional development opportunities.
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard internship hosts across industries in Sonoma County, matching opportunities to student interests and program goals.
  • Train host-site supervisors so they’re ready to run a strong internship experience.
  • Communicate directly with employers and student interns before, during, and after placements, and resolve issues as they come up.
  • Share student, educator, and employer feedback in program design meetings, and propose ideas that improve the experience for students, educators, and employers.
  • Elevate student voice by gathering feedback and identifying and amplifying student stories.
School & Community Partnerships
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with school staff, including counselors, work-based learning coordinators, career specialists, teachers, and administrators.
  • Co-develop and implement marketing and outreach strategies targeting students to raise awareness of and increase participation in program services.
  • Promote internship opportunities to students through classroom presentations, career days, and targeted outreach events.
  • Represent CTE Foundation at community events to build awareness of and drive participation in work-based learning initiatives.
  • Attend school events for outreach purposes, as well as graduation ceremonies and other school functions, to build visibility and strengthen relationships with the school community.
Administrative Tasks
  • Identify key data points to track in support of program goals, funder requirements, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collect and track student data to maintain reliable and up-to-date program records.
  • Support leadership in providing accurate data and anecdotes for grant reports.
  • Analyze program data to identify trends, measure impact, and recommend improvements to program design and delivery.
  • Facilitate the collection of MOUs and supervisor agreements from employer partners, ensuring documentation is complete and on file.
Sector-Specific Programming
  • Provide specialized mentorship and support, in both one-on-one and group settings, to students participating in sector-specific internships and other training programs that may have donor-specific funding for added supports.
  • Verify that students have industry-required certifications or records (for example, current vaccine records) before beginning onsite programming.
  • Support co-designed or co-facilitated programs based on grant funding or programmatic priorities.
  • Help facilitate sector-specific convenings to strengthen regional collaboration and stay current on pathway initiatives.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • One to two years of experience working directly with young adults in an advising, mentoring, teaching, case management, or program role.
  • Experience building working relationships with outside partners such as employers, schools, or community organizations.
  • Experience presenting to groups or leading workshops.
  • Ability to manage several projects and deadlines at once and keep accurate records.
