Job summary

Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. is seeking a Program Coordinator to support the Johnson County program on a part‑time, hourly basis.

The role focuses on coordinating daily operations, intake, assessments, and collaboration with leadership to deliver high‑quality community-based services. Responsibilities include advocacy with youth and families, maintaining documentation, and participating in multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, commensurate experience in community-based agency programs.
  • At minimum, at least one year experience managing personnel and budgets.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience in home and community-based services is a plus.
  • Willing to consider non-degreed applicants with 2-5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily program operations and administrative activities to support effective service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, program policies, and documentation standards.
  • Manage participant intake, assessment, referral, and enrollment processes.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to achieve program goals and maintain quality services.
  • Provide direct advocacy and support services to youth and families in home, school, and community settings.
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor, promoting a strength-based and family-centered approach.
  • Conduct comprehensive intakes, assessments, and ongoing evaluations of participant needs.
  • Develop and facilitate individualized safety plans and support strategies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to ISP development and implementation.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and respond to participant needs, including 24/7 support as required.
  • Maintain regular contact with participants, families, service providers, and community partners.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and complete case documentation and record maintenance.
  • Monitor participant progress and coordinate services to support positive outcomes.
  • Support program reporting, data collection, and quality assurance efforts.
  • Foster positive relationships with youth, families, schools, and community stakeholders.

Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. (YAP) is a national nonprofit that provides community-based alternatives to youth incarceration and residential placement. Founded in 1975 and headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, YAP partners with youth justice, child welfare, behavioral health, and education systems to deliver individualized, wraparound services that keep youth safely in their homes and communities.

YAP’s model focuses on building strong relationships with youth and families, connecting them to local resources, and supporting positive life outcomes through strength-based, culturally responsive approaches. Advocates work directly in the community to help participants develop skills, meet goals, and strengthen family and community connections.

Summary of the Position:

The Program Coordinator is responsible for direct support for the Johnson County program and Program Director.

  • Provide crisis intervention services and respond to participant needs, including 24/7 support as required.

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and complete case documentation and record maintenance.
  • Monitor participant progress and coordinate services to support positive outcomes.
  • Support program reporting, data collection, and quality assurance efforts.
  • Foster positive relationships with youth, families, schools, and community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to supporting youth and families through community-based services.
Availability:

Position works up to 20 hours per week; Flexible Non-Traditional Hours; Evenings and Weekends may be required.

Hourly Rate:

$21 per hour.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with commensurate experience in community-based agency programs except for programs where the referring authority requires a specific degree.
  • At minimum, at least one-year previous experience in managing personnel and budgets.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience in the provision of home and community-based services is a plus.
  • Willing a consider non-degreed applicant with 2-5 years of experience.
  • Proficient computer skills required; Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems is a plus.
  • Experience in the provision of home and community-based services.
  • Bilingual/Spanish Speaking is strongly preferred!
  • Position requires reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance coverage
