In this role, you’ll support both the Dean’s Office—including Undergraduate Education and Development—and the Fitzpatrick Institute for Photonics, contributing to high-impact initiatives and daily operations that shape the future of engineering education and research at Duke.

You’ll play a key role in coordinating programs, managing logistics, and supporting leadership with administrative and financial tasks. This is a great opportunity to work at the intersection of academic administration and cutting‑edge research, where your organizational skills and initiative will make a meaningful difference.

  • Equivalent combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with financial systems such as Buy@Duke, Concur, SAP, and AP Check Requests.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled in strategic planning, resource coordination, and program evaluation.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership and managing confidential information.
Other Requirements
  • This is an onsite position. The work is performed on‑site at Duke University.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for events or special projects.
  • Familiarity with Duke policies and procedures is preferred.
Be Bold.

As a Program Coordinator, you will:

  • Support senior leadership in the Dean’s Office and Fitzpatrick Institute for Photonics with calendar management, travel coordination, and confidential administrative tasks.
  • Plan and execute events such as seminars, workshops, conferences, and distinguished guest visits, including logistics, communications, and on‑site support.
  • Manage financial operations, including budgeting, expense reconciliation, corporate card processing, and invoice resolution.
  • Coordinate program activities, making operational decisions that impact strategic goals and advising staff on policy and process improvements.
  • Develop communications and promotional materials, including newsletters, press releases, and website updates to support public relations and outreach efforts.
Choose Duke.

At Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering, we are committed to fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence in education and research. The Fitzpatrick Institute for Photonics is a world‑renowned center for interdisciplinary photonics research, offering a vibrant environment for discovery and impact.

As part of our team, you’ll enjoy working in a collegial atmosphere that values inclusion, creativity, and professional growth. Located in the heart of Durham, NC, Duke offers a beautiful campus, access to cultural events, and a strong sense of community.
