Job summary

Herzing University in Birmingham, AL is seeking an experienced nursing education leader to oversee the nursing program and report to the Director of Campus Operations. You will mentor experienced educators while ensuring a high-quality clinical and classroom experience for students on campus.

Qualifications

  • MSN required; DNP preferred.
  • Active Alabama RN license.
  • At least three years experience as a registered nurse.
  • At least two years experience as faculty member in a registered nursing education program.
  • Experience with a practical nursing education program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff and faculty, and supervise both faculty and staff; oversee programmatic management.
  • Engage in data collection, analysis and reporting and drive continuous improvement; support program accreditation activities.
  • Supervise Faculty, Adjunct Faculty, and support staff who help students bridge theory and practice in nursing, with intimate class sizes and clinical rotations.

Requirements
  • Master's of Science in Nursing required; Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree preferred.
  • Active, unencumbered registered nurse license for the state of Alabama.
  • At least three years experience as a registered nurse.
  • At least two years experience as a faculty member in a registered nursing education program.
  • Experience with a practical nursing education program preferred.
Compensation

Compensation is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan with company match. The salary range for this position is $106,121 to $143,575.

Summary of Primary Responsibilities

As a member of the academic leadership team, your responsibilities include hiring, training, developing and evaluating staff and faculty, and supervision of both faculty and staff, but extends to programmatic management as well. This may include data collection, analysis and reporting, and continuous improvement.Experience with programmatic accreditation is desired.

You will primarily be responsible for supervising Faculty, Adjunct Faculty, and support staff who have stepped up to the challenge of helping our students bridge the gap between the theory and practice in the nursing field. Our professional faculty engage tomorrow's nurses with intimate class sizes, up-to-date labs and simulation environments, and real-life clinical rotations (off site).

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Ability to move about readily and rapidly, if necessary, around campus, classrooms, clinical settings, etc., to access classrooms, desks, students, office machinery, clinics, patients, etc.
  • Constantly communicates using the spoken word with students, staff and colleagues.
  • Visually or otherwise identify, observe and assess.
  • Operate equipment specific to programmatic track, personal computer, audio-visual equipment, clinical equipment, etc.
  • Travel to off-site meetings or conferences or to observe students during clinical education at off-site clinical settings.
  • In addition to the above requirements, for programs that include a clinical component, all faculty must be able to:
    • Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
    • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects.
    • Ability to see and hear within normal parameters.
    • Lift up to 25 pounds.
