Job summary

LEAR CORPORATION in Duncan, SC is seeking a Program/BOM Engineer responsible for managing program launches and engineering changes. The role requires knowledge of automotive production processes and the ability to coordinate with JIT plants.

Job description

PROGRAM/BOM ENGINEER

LEAR CORPORATION PLANT - DUNCAN, SC

The Program/BOM Engineer is responsible for complete Program Management with new program launches and program maintenance, and for managing and coordinating engineering changes with the JIT plants.

Responsibilities:

  • Review BOMs received from the central BOM team in Munich and manage engineering change control.
  • Create and build new BOMs in the ERP system and Ujigami.
  • Submit new BOMs to be built in the Access database (current) and independently build them in SAP (future).
  • Maintain BOMs monthly, auditing between ERP, Ujigami, and Access.
  • Use MS Excel for rapid comparisons and identification of similarities and differences in BOMs.
  • Create engineering change notices for upcoming changes and communicate them to CKD customers.
  • Coordinate upcoming part/engineering changes with the responsible JIT plants.
  • Complete program management for new program launches and program maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and efficiencies, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of the various functions of an automotive plant such as maintenance, quality, production control, safety, operations, and materials.
  • Knowledge of strategies such as product lifecycle management (PLM), just‑in‑time, and self‑directed teams.
  • Knowledge of Lear’s organizational rules, regulations, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations for environmental control and other regulatory authorities.
  • Ability to create results, build teams, foster trust, and handle resistance to change.
  • Ability to assess multiple events and circumstances to establish a course of action.
  • Recognize relationships between facts, information, or situations to integrate information from various sources.
  • Evaluate alternatives and anticipate consequences of various courses of action.
  • Provide sound rationale and explanations for decisions and actions.
  • Communicate information objectively without personal bias.
  • Take an unpopular stand when necessary.
  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Analyze problems, ask appropriate questions, gather additional information to identify causes and solutions.

Special Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, OSHA, and TS16949 requirements and compliance.

Education:

Associate’s Degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
