Job summary

NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities seeks an Assistant Director to lead administrative and clinical supervision of eight Consumer Advisory Board representatives. The role provides coverage for the Executive Director and requires attending Board meetings as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Human Services/Special Education and at least 5 years experience working with people who have developmental disabilities, at least 3 years working in advocacy capacity. Must be available for statewide travel and must have good oral and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Currently a Consumer Advisory Board Program Associate, grade 18 and meet the following:

Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Human Services/Special Education and at least 5 years experience working with people who have developmental disabilities, at least 3 years working in advocacy capacity, and knowledge of the Willowbrook Permanent Injunction and familiarity with state and federal laws and regulations specific to the delivery of services to people with I/DD and their rights.

  • This position will require travel between counties and will average around 95% travel.
NOTE: The position is NS (Non-Statutory) equated to SG-23.
Additional Comments

Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 23 ($90,582) and Downstate adjustment ($4,150). Downstate adjustment is added to the job rate ($114,585).

  • The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.

  • Paid Holidays and Leave:
