Job summary

Surdna Foundation in New York’s Midtown seeks a detail-oriented Program Associate for the Strong Local Economies program. You will help manage grantmaking, coordinate communications, and support a small team delivering funding and impact.

Ideal candidate will have a BA/BS, at least two years’ office experience, strong writing and editing skills, and a commitment to social justice. Travel may be required to site visits and conferences.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree required; nonprofit sector interest and economic development/equity experience highly preferred
• Minimum of 2 years work experience; previous office/administrative experience required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Excellent analytical thinking, writing, speaking and editing skills
• Strong team-player with diplomatic, professional manner and sense of humor
• Commitment to applying skills broadly within Surdna to support the foundation's mission
• Salary commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day grantmaking activities for the Strong Local Economies program team.
• Track grant proposals, progress reports and related materials in Surdna's grants management system.
• Support program budget management and administrative tasks.
• Assist with communications, content editing and story generation.
• Plan and coordinate special events; liaise with other departments and partners.
• Contribute to program relevance by monitoring policy developments and news.
