Job description

The Program Associate will assist and support the Associate Chair of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion of the Department of Medicine in managing all projects and operations associated with DEI in the DOM. This involves project planning, management, budgeting and coordinating DEI events, initiatives, programing and data collection. The role of the DEI project associate requires flexibility, insight, independent decision making, patience, and DEI training to be sensitive to the needs of minoritized populations.

Responsibilities:

Project Management

Understand current DEI standards and the Department of Medicine's (DOM) 5-Year Strategic Plan with regard to DEI.

Support the DOM Diversity Council & URIM Faculty Group

Act as a liaison between the DOM and Student Mentoring programs and community service groups within the Bronx.

Develop the annual DEI Budget

Provide DOM leadership with DEI data from residency and fellowship applicants each year.

Oversee the logistics and work with the medical school registrar for the Underrepresented in Medicine (URiM) visiting medical student elective.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree

Minimum one year of work experience

Experience, training and/or coursework in DEI is preferred but not required.

Experience with time management, organizational skills, project management, multi-tasking, etc.

Excellent verbal and written communication.

Computer skills in basic programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and email.

Familiarity with presentation software, database tools, and web design software is desirable.
