This position is based in Los Angeles, Downtown, and will service East Los Angeles, El Monte, and Pomona. The work shift is Monday - Friday, 9:00AM-5:30PM. The position is full-time, non-exempt, with an hourly rate of $20.00. We are looking to fill this role as soon as possible.

Position Details

• Department: Community Initiatives
• Reports to: Director of Nutrition and Food Security Programs

Responsibilities

• Implement daily program tasks, including enrolling individuals into food assistance programs like CalFresh and P-EBT, conducting community workshops, and maintaining partnerships.
• Monitor and case-manage enrolled individuals.
• Stay informed about LA City and County health and safety-net programs and how they support community members.
• Represent NHF at community meetings and foster relationships to increase program participation.
• Coordinate or assist with community events promoting programs and services.
• Maintain records of program activities and input data into evaluation dashboards.
• Support team members with workshop materials, reviewing lesson plans, and program planning.
• Adhere to NHF policies and procedures.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in community outreach and education as a certified or trained Community Health Worker or Promotora.
• Knowledge of community resources, including public benefits, nonprofits, and local businesses.
• Experience working effectively with diverse communities.
• Comfortable with public speaking and leading group activities.
• Strong team player with effective collaboration skills.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, or other commonly used LA County languages.
• Reliable transportation to visit multiple sites weekly.
