Departmental Overview

The Center for the Study of Child Care Employment (CSCCE) at the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment conducts research on early care and education workforce issues, developing policy solutions and fostering activism. Our goal is an effective, just, and equitable early care and education system.

Responsibilities

The role supports CSCCE staff with administrative functions, including managing communications, coordinating meetings, supporting research activities, and maintaining web content.

  • Develop organizational protocols, manage supplies, oversee departmental email and calendar, and coordinate vendor services.
  • Assist with budget preparation, grant research, and tracking reimbursements in compliance with policies.
  • Organize and maintain data, verify facts, and proofread reports and presentations.
  • Update and maintain the website, contacts database, and publication logs.
  • Support webinars, meetings, and conferences, handling logistics and materials.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency in administrative procedures, including Google Docs and Sheets.
  • Strong report writing and fact-checking skills.
  • Experience in record management and data organization.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate across diverse groups.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Previous office experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of issues facing the early care and education workforce.
  • Interest in labor, social, and economic justice issues.
  • Experience with academic institutions, especially UC Berkeley.
  • Familiarity with UC policies, WordPress, Adobe Suite, Canva, Datawrapper, and Smartsheet.
Salary & Benefits

See the UC Berkeley Compensation & Benefits website for details. The hourly range is $28.44 - $40.73, with full-time, 40-hour workweeks, eligible for full UC benefits, and up to 100% remote work arrangements.
