The statewide goals and objectives of the Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) program are established through a TIC Advisory Council, comprised of DSH Directorate, hospital Executive Directors, and the TIC Program Director. Under the supervision of the TIC Program Director, and in consultation with the Executive Director of the employee’s home hospital, the Program Assistant is responsible for directing the activities of a multidisciplinary staff in achieving program goals and patient objectives by overseeing all hospital-based TIC efforts, including but not limited to: communication, training, activities, program planning and implementation, data collection, and development or refinement of policies and procedures. Participates as a member of the statewide TIC program by supporting integration of TIC principles and practice into all levels of their hospital, including trauma-informed organizational change, improved patient care, and development of trauma-specific screening, referral, assessment, and evidence-based treatment. Collaborates with hospital departments on multi-disciplinary TIC projects and serves as a master trainer for TIC champions and staff, coordinating and providing training and consultation to various departments.
The Program Assistant works onsite at their home hospital, is embedded in hospital operations, and actively participates in relevant hospital-based committees and groups.
