Job summary

Bay Area Community Resources is seeking a Program Assistant – Bilingual in Spanish for Vallejo First 5 Center. The role balances hands-on engagement with families and children with administrative tasks to keep the Center running smoothly.

You will Interpret for Spanish-speaking families, coordinate registrations, and assist with center operations including Saturdays. A welcoming, organized professional with strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and a warm, welcoming presence.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail, logistics, and operations.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and collaborate as part of a team.
  • Comfortable with clerical tasks, phone calls, and data entry.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds for setup and breakdown of play area materials.
  • Willingness to support administrative and Saturday operations.

  • Support the Center with programmatic and administrative tasks.
  • Handle phone calls and miscellaneous clerical duties.
  • Assist with family center tours, participant registration and placement.
  • Help ensure the Center is presentable, organized, and equipped.
  • Create marketing materials for events and classes.
  • Provide interpretation for Spanish-speaking families and staff.
  • Coordinate workshops and open play space activities.
  • Support center outreach and community engagement efforts.
  • Receive training to administer Ages & Stages screenings.

  • Pay rate: $20 – $22 per hour based on experience
  • Full‑time, 36 hours per week: Tuesday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm & Saturday 8:30am–12:30pm

Job Summary

You are a community‑minded bilingual professional who enjoys supporting children, families, and programs in a welcoming, organized environment. You enjoy balancing hands‑on engagement with families and children while also supporting the behind‑the‑scenes administrative needs that keep the Center running smoothly. You are confident working independently when needed, particularly in supporting Center operations on Saturdays, while remaining a strong and collaborative team member.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report to and collaborate with the Program Administrator.
  • Support the Center with programmatic and administrative tasks.
  • Handle phone calls and miscellaneous clerical duties.
  • Assist with new family center tours, participant registration and placement into appropriate programming.
  • Help ensure the Center is presentable, organized, and fully equipped for programming.
  • Support general Center duties as part of a collaborative team.
  • Help create marketing materials for events and classes.
  • Serve as the warm and welcoming presence for new and returning families.
  • Provide interpretation for Spanish‑speaking families and staff.
  • Translate materials between English and Spanish.
  • Coordinate and provide interpretation for workshops and classes as needed.
  • Coordinate and lead designated open play space activities.
  • Create engaging, dynamic programming experiences for children and families.
  • Provide childwatch during designated times when parents are participating in adult‑only programming.
  • Implement a class each session after receiving training.
  • Support outreach opportunities and community engagement efforts.
  • Receive training to administer Ages &Stages developmental screenings and conduct screenings each session.
  • Obtain Community Health Worker certification in alignment with CalAIM requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage parent volunteers to support Center programming.
  • Support events and Center visits as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).

  • Strong typing skills and proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.).
  • Comfortable with clerical tasks, phone calls, and data entry.
  • Ability to help maintain a clean, organized, and program‑ready Center.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds regularly for set‑up and breakdown of childwatch and play area materials.
  • Capable of independently managing administrative support on Saturdays, including front‑desk coverage and routine Center operations.
  • Willingness to share insights and feedback to support continuous improvement and innovation.
Preferred Experience
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) units and/or experience in a childcare setting.
  • Experience with data entry.
  • Experience supporting family‑facing or community‑based programs.
