Introduction
The Department of Safety and Professional Services mission is to promote economic growth and stability while protecting the citizens of Wisconsin as designated by statute. DSPS and related professional boards protect the citizens of Wisconsin by ensuring the safe and competent practice of licensed professionals; performing inspections of commercial buildings, amusement rides, boilers, elevators, pressurized gas systems, and electrical systems; and performing plan reviews of commercial building, plumbing, fire suppression, elevators, boilers, and private onsite wastewater treatments systems.
What We Are Looking For: An individual with great attention to detail to provide research, analysis, and recommendations to the Department of Safety and Professional Services, Division of Legal Services and Compliance.
Where We Are Located: After an initial training period, this position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI at least 2 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are still expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

Position Summary
The Program and Policy Analyst Advanced is responsible for overseeing program and policy matters related to consumer protection, enforcement initiatives, and regulatory bodies affiliated with the Department. The position involves independently gathering and analyzing data to address policy, procedural, operational, and organizational issues. It includes developing and implementing recommendations and plans that impact both the Division and the Department. The role requires conducting in-depth research, strategic planning, and analysis on complex issues, as well as formulating policy options. Additionally, the position performs a broad range of high-level administrative functions related to program management and engages with a diverse group of stakeholders—including elected and appointed officials at the state, local, and federal levels, professional associations, credential holders, the public, and the media.
Salary Information
This position is in schedule-range (07-03) with an
annual salary of $62,400-$92,206, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.
Qualifications
A minimally qualified applicant must have experience with all the below:
- Experience and/or training with conducting research, collecting data, and analyzing data. This includes determining the most effective means to collect data.
- Experience and/or training with compiling results and developing summaries from data collection efforts. This includes analyzing the data to develop the summary documents.
- Experience and/or training with developing recommendations for business strategies and plans based on data analysis.
- Experience and/or training with presenting results/summaries/strategies/plans to others in written and/or verbal methods.
Well-qualified Applicants Will Also Have Experience
- Experience and/or training with program and project analysis and evaluation. This includes making recommendations for improvements based on completed analysis.
- Experience working with state statute or administrative code.
- Experience and/or training with developing recommendations to be used in creating policies for an organization.
