Job summary

Markel Group is seeking a Program Services Analyst to join the State National Program Services team. The role concentrates on accurate processing, collections, and reporting for client business, collaborating with Finance, Actuarial, Compliance and Legal to meet objectives.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, US work authorization, and the ability to perform SOX-compliant reconciliations, trend analyses, and reporting requests with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all SOX controls and follow department processes and procedures.
  • Assist with ad-hoc requests and other strategic projects as they arise.
  • Assist with internal and external audit review, as needed.
  • Assist with systems integration and testing, as needed.
  • Collaborate with teammates to identify, design, and implement process improvements for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform account reconciliations in compliance with SOX control requirements.
  • Perform trend and fluctuation analysis on underwriting data related to assigned programs.
  • Send and monitor receipt of special reporting requests (Statutory, Premium Tax, Schedule P, Audit, Assessments).
  • Generate assessment and assigned risk allocations as invoiced by various statutory entities.
  • Understand reinsurance contract language pertaining to accounting contractual requirements, as applicable.
  • Work closely with assigned program managers and other functional areas to resolve issues and support business goals.

This position is responsible for participation, as assigned, in the accurate processing, collections, and reporting of State National's Program Services client business and is part of the Program Services Analysis and Reporting team with Markel's State National Program Services. State National Program Services is responsible for the administration of all State National Program Services insurance (and reinsurance), and the safeguarding of State National's assets through timely billing, collection and analysis. This position reports to the Manager, Program Analysis and Reporting.

Essential Functions:
  • Adhere to all SOX controls and maintain and follow all department processes and procedures.

Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
