Job summary

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit Head Start program seeks Program Aides to support preschool students ages 3-5 in a part-time role across MC IU locations. The positions offer a $15.52/hour rate and operate Monday–Friday, 5 hours per day, 10 months.

Responsibilities include assisting with meals, activities and daily routines, promoting a safe, healthy environment and helping children develop self-help skills in line with Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards. Transportation required.

Qualifications

• No educational requirement.
• Desire to work with pre-school age students and help them grow socially and academically.
• Must be able to perform physical activities and lift children.
• Provide own transportation.

• Assist with meal preparation and classroom operation.
• Provide a safe and healthy environment.
• Prepare for, participate in, and clean up after activities.
• Help children participate in daily activities and gain independent skills.
• Contribute to daily and weekly classroom planning.
• Work cooperatively as part of the classroom team.
• Participate in activities for parents and promote community connections.
• Follow MC IU policies and perform other duties as assigned.

Vacancies exists for a Program Aides to work within the Office of Early Childhood Services Head Start at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit! This part-time position serves students ages 3-5 years old.

Qualifications

• No educational requirement.
• A desire to work with pre-school age students and help them grow socially and academically.
• Ability to perform the following physical activities: stoop, run, sit, stand, walk, bend, lift children, carry thirty (30) pounds, be outside in all seasons, be inside, prepare food, hear within normal ranges, and see within normal ranges.
• Provide own transportation.
• Ability to work with and relate to young children and families of diverse backgrounds.
• Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, the Child Abuse Registry and PDE FBI.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Help children develop self-help skills by actively participating in all phases of mealtime activities and toileting.
• Assist with meal preparation and classroom operation.
• Provide a safe and healthy environment.
• Help prepare for, participate in, and clean up after an activity.
• Assist children to participate in daily activities and gain independent skills aligned with the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards.
• Contribute to daily and weekly classroom planning.
• Work cooperatively with an attitude of support as a member of the classroom team.
• Participate in activities planned for parents and promote community connections.
• Adhere to and implement MCIU policies, procedures and directives.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit Head Start program has classrooms located throughout Montgomery County, PA. Vacancy location and classroom need will be determined during the interview process.
