Job description

VNA Extended Care Services is seeking compassionate employees to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring support with daily activities and personal well-being. In this vital role, you will provide attentive, respectful, and personalized care for seniors and adults with disabilities in a structured, daytime environment. Your dedication will help enhance the quality of life for those you serve. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop your caregiving skills while fostering meaningful relationships with clients.

The starting hourly rate for this position is $11.00 per hour but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Duties

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure their comfort and dignity
• Assist with recreational activities, crafts, games, exercise, and social programs
• Assist with serving meals and snacks, and provide feeding assistance as necessary
• Assist clients with boarding transportation vehicles or navigating the center
• Monitor clients’ health and report any changes in condition to Program Director
• Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance
• Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids to safely transfer clients
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols
• Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and assist in updating individual care plans

Experience

• Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings preferred
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and hospice care is highly valued
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism enhances your ability to provide personalized support
• Certification in CPR and First Aid is required
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations including seniors, people with disabilities, or those requiring long-term care support
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate mobility equipment such as Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, clients’ families, and other caregivers

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High School Diploma/GED or 1+ years of related work experience
• Valid PA Driver’s License
• CPR/First Aid certification required
• Ability to pass PA Child Abuse History, Criminal Background, and FBI Check
• Compassion, patience, strong communications,and ability to work as part of a team
• Center Hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
