Position Type: Program Aide

About this opportunity: Leads children’s activities at an after-school program, including classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, bible study, computer programs, and specialized programs; prepares and serves children lunch and snacks; assists in leading field trips; maintains the cleanliness of the after-school area; transports passengers in a Salvation Army vehicle.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
  • Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides a positive, relaxed atmosphere during children’s mealtime encouraging conversation.
  • Develops and implements lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities.

What we are looking for in you:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • One to two years’ experience teaching child development programs.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Ability to pass all state licensing background checks.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to observe children and ensure their safety. Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle safely observing all laws, regulations, and policies. Ability to pass DOT requirements to drive a Salvation Army midbus or other DOT vehicle if requested. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
