Job summary

Be GREAT Academy is seeking a part-time Program Specialist/Aid Sub to support after-school activities in the Winnsboro area. Work hours are Monday-Friday from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM, up to 4 hours daily; summer hours vary. Report to assigned sites in your region as needed.

The role focuses on planning, implementing, and supervising youth programs while promoting safety and program quality. A high school diploma or GED is required, 6 months to 2 years of program delivery experience preferred, and

  • Ability to interact effectively with youth, staff, parents and community
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of youth development principles
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to build positive relationships with youth

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and promote core values
  • Implement curriculum for programs
  • Plan, implement, facilitate, and supervise activities
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members
  • Create engaging displays and bulletin boards for program areas
  • Assist in national projects and exhibits
  • Mentor youth, adults and volunteers in the creative process
  • Maintain records of participants, schedules and outcomes
  • Complete mandatory First Aid/CPR
  • Other duties as assigned

Job description

Classification

Part time; Monday-Friday between the hours of 2pm-6:30pm; up to 4 hours a day; $12-$12.50 an hour; summer hours vary.

General Function

Plan, implement, facilitate, and supervise activities and programs. Promote safety of members, quality of programs and appearance of the Club at all times. Program Specialist/Aid Subs will only report to work when needed to sites in their selected region.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Ability to deal effectively with staff, youth, parents, local community leaders, schools and churches
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of youth development
  • BI-LINGUAL IN ENGLISH/SPANISH A PLUS
  • Understand the Clubs' philosophy, vision and goals
  • Ability to establish and cultivate positive relationships with youth
Minimum Education and Experience

High School Diploma/GED or college degree. 6 months to 2 years program delivery experience. (Hourly rate depends on level of education/experience)

Physical and Mental Requirements

Must be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities while at all times displaying tact, maturity and flexibility. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, standing for up to four hours per day, and ability to implement programs. Skills essential for success include speaking, writing and knowledge of the computer.

Environment & Working Conditions

After school/Recreational settings that include being in/out doors. Occasional weekend and evening work to support organization's fundraising events and activities.
