Job summary

Houston-Galveston Area Council is seeking a Family Engagement Outreach Coordinator to lead and support outreach efforts across multiple counties. You will design and implement programs, monitor performance, and collaborate with partners to improve access to family resources and early childhood development services.

The role requires strong project management, data analysis, and the ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders while promoting continuous improvement and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • 4 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school, or related duties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and support to Family Engagement Outreach Coordinators.
  • Assist with design, implementation, and improvement of family engagement/outreach initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategic outreach plans to increase awareness and utilization of Workforce Solutions and family services.
  • Lead collaborative efforts to identify community needs and address service gaps.
  • Establish annual goals, performance measures, and outcome targets for outreach activities.
  • Represent the program at community meetings, coalitions, and stakeholder groups.

About Houston-Galveston Area Council

The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What will I be doing?
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and support to Family Engagement Outreach Coordinators.
  • Assist with the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of family engagement and outreach initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategic outreach plans designed to increase awareness, accessibility, and utilization of available Workforce Solutions service and other family support services.
  • Lead collaborative efforts to identify community needs, address service gaps, and improve access to family resources.
  • Establish annual goals, performance measures, and outcome targets for outreach and family engagement activities.
  • Monitor program performance and implement continuous improvement strategies to maximize impact and effectiveness.
  • Serve as the program's subject matter expert on family engagement, early childhood development, and community-based family support services.
  • Promote innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement among team members.
  • Represent the organization at community meetings, outreach events, coalitions, and stakeholder groups.
  • Maintain current knowledge of best practices related to parent engagement, early literacy, child development, and protective factors that strengthen families.
  • Guide the development and maintenance of regional family resource directories and outreach materials.
Key Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of family engagement, early childhood development, community outreach, and family support service systems.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and achieve performance goals.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including families, community partners, leadership, and public stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, coach, and develop staff while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites and SharePoint.
Do you have…

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Education, Early Childhood Education, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of the Greater Houston and Gulf Coast communities, including demographics, community resources, and culturally responsive engagement practices.
  • Experience developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating community-based programs and initiatives.
