Doctoring Year 2 is an innovative, integrative medical school course in the second year of medical school which teaches communication, physical exam, and clinical reasoning skills to medical students. The course utilizes lectures, small groups, online learning modules, clinical learning with 4th year medical students, and longitudinal clinical placements in the outpatient and inpatient settings.

The Position is student facing and responsible for working closely with the Doctoring Team (faculty course directors, and administrators) to provide support and general oversight to the course operations and work collaboratively with others who are involved in the curriculum. This work will also include proposing and administering quality improvement initiatives in course administration, information delivery and continuity across modules

Working as part of a team of 3 administrators, the position is responsible for:

  • Prepare complex schedules for students, faculty and simulated patients.
  • Organize online and in person logistical requirements to ensure curriculum is delivered as expected.
  • Collaborate with course directors to prepare formal weekly communications to students and faculty. Field emails from students and faculty for timely response.
  • Support 7-8 faculty/small group activities on a regular basis both in person and via Zoom.
  • Arrange student clinicals - clerkship prep, longitudinal preceptorship and 4th year electives if needed.
  • Support end of module assessments.
  • Meet on a weekly basis with the Doctoring Program Manager and Doctoring 3 Administrator to coordinate needs and staffing for upcoming doctoring sessions.
  • Provide cross coverage for actor sessions
  • Support clinical skills activities and 1ST, 2ND and 3RD year assessments by working with the Doctoring Team and Sim Center Technician to set up Sim Center and classroom spaces and by directing students and faculty.
  • May be asked to step in to monitor and record timed events in person and via Zoom.
  • Learn Elevate software in order to schedule students and faculty for assessments, input case information, checklists and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of student assessment and performance.
  • Assign, track and follow up on evaluations using Medhub evaluation software.
  • Provide administrative support to the Doctoring course directors.
  • Liaise with faculty and administrators of the Medical Education Office and participate in meetings to collaborate on curricular initiatives.
  • Identify and suggest program improvement initiatives.
  • Use of a variety of software products including: oMS Excel Suite oGoogle Suite oBlackboard Ultra oMedHub evaluation software oElevate Clinical Assessment software
  • This is a hybrid position (must be on campus when class is in session).

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree and approximately 1-3 years of experience or equivalent in an educational setting is desirable
  • Demonstrates initiative and has the ability to work independently while consulting with the course leadership and doctoring team
  • Produces detailed work with accuracy
  • Likes being part of a team working toward a common goal (providing a quality educational experience to medical students)
  • This is an in-person, student facing role with the occasional opportunity for remote work, upon consideration of the impact on business operations
