Hajoca Corporation, a leading wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating, cooling and industrial supplies, seeks a Profit Center Manager for the Ames, IA location (McDonald Supply). You will direct all business operations, drive profitability, recruit and lead the team, and build strong relationships with customers and vendors.

Candidates should have 5+ years of sales/service and at least 1 year of leadership, a college degree, and the ability to analyze financial reports using standard office

Job Overview

Hajoca Corporation is one of the country’s largest privately-held wholesale distributors of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies. Hajoca is a company based on the principles of “Service, Integrity, Reliability,” and on relationships of trust and support with teammates, customers, and suppliers. Hajoca operates with a decentralized structure where each Profit Center (PC) is run as a small business by the Profit Center Manager. McDonald Supply is a trade name of Hajoca and is looking for a Profit Center Manager at their Ames, IA location.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and lead all business operations at the Profit Center. This role is accountable for sustaining consistent profitability.
• Achieve sales, gross profit, market share, and profit-sharing goals through recruitment, development, training, coaching, evaluation, and management of the Profit Center team.
• Set clear performance expectations and goals for teammates and conduct regular performance evaluations to assess progress and provide feedback and development.
• Determine targeted customer account potential, establish sales goals for those accounts, and hold salespeople accountable for achieving those goals.
• Achieve upper quartile performance in key indicators: Gross Profit %, Net Salaries Ratio, Occupancy Ratio, Return on Investment, Gross Profit per Employee, and Profit Sharing per Employee.
• Analyze available financial reports, implementing strategies to increase sales and margins, improve productivity, and manage expenses and assets.
• Ensure the Profit Center meets or exceeds customer service expectations.
• Build relationships in the community to understand the marketplace, increase market share, and identify new markets.
• Conduct all business in accordance with Company policy and procedures.
• Maintain and insist upon a safe working environment in accordance with Company policy and procedures.
• Safeguard and maintain all Profit Center assets – buildings, fleet, equipment, inventory, and receivables.
• Complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent industry experience
• 5+ years of sales and service experience
• 1+ year of leadership experience
• Product knowledge related to the specific Profit Center market preferred
• Able to drive for company business. As a company business driver, you must:
• Be at least 18 years old
• Possess a proper and valid driver’s license
• Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy
• Possess excellent people skills, sound business judgment, and the capacity for continued growth and contributions to the Company
• Effectively use Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel) to communicate via email, maintain appointments and contact files, and analyze performance data
• Possess strong work ethic and a high standard of integrity
• Create and nurture a positive team environment and inspire employees to achieve high levels of customer and employee satisfaction
• Be able to build positive, influential relationships with customers and vendors
• Be able to interpret financial report data to determine success/failure of plans and adjust accordingly
• Be able to learn and operate the computer systems used for business operations
• Be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
